NEIGHBORS TOGETHER IS COMMITTED TO ENDING HUNGER AND POVERTY IN THE OCEAN HILL, BROWNSVILLE, AND BEDFORD-STUYVESANT NEIGHBORHOODS OF BROOKLYN. THESE ARE AMONG THE LOWEST-INCOME AREAS IN NEW YORK CITY.

COMMUNITY CAF - THE COMMUNITY CAF PROVIDES FREE, NUTRITIOUS LUNCH AND DINNER MEALS TO 500 PEOPLE PER DAY TO EASE THE IMMEDIATE CRISIS OF HUNGER. IN FY 2023, THE CAF SERVED 96,854 MEALS TO OVER 10,000 MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN NEED, A 60% INCREASE OVER THE PRIOR YEAR.
EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM - THE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM CONNECTS MEMBERS TO STABILIZING RESOURCES BEYOND FOOD TO ADRESS THE UNDERLYING PROBLEMS THAT LEAD TO HUNGER: HOUSING INSTABILY/HOMELESSNESS, LACK OF QUALITY HEALTH CARE, LACK OF LIVING WAGE JOBS, ETC. IN FY 2023, THE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM PROVIDED LIFE STABILIZING SERVICES TO OVER 390 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS, WITH 217 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING HOUSING ASSISTANCE.
COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM- THE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM ENGAGES OUR MEMBERS IN ADVOCACY AND ORGANIZING EFFORTS WHILE PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT,EDUCATION AND SKILLS BUILDING TO TRANSFORM PUBLIC POLICIES THAT TOO OFTEN COMPOUND RATHER THAN RELIEVE HUNGER AND POVERTY. IN FY 2023, OVER 100 LOWINCOME MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS AT THE CITY, STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR LOWINCOME PEOPLE.
