PRESERVE AND MAINTAIN SLEEPING GIANT PARK. MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE PRINTING AND PUBLICATIONS INCLUDING NEWSLETTERS TO MEMBERS, PUBLICIZING THE PARK TO MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC IN OUR EFFORTS TO PRESERVE THIS STATE PARK AND ADD LAND TO THE PARK, MAINTAINING THE PARK'S TRAIL NETWORK AND LEADING HIKES ON THE TRAILS MAINTAINED BY THE ASSOCIATION TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND NATURE.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PRINT AND MAIL THREE NEWSLETTERS TO 1,800 MEMBERS. THESE EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE HIKING TRAILS AVAILABLE TO THEM AS WELL AS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES, ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP, NATURE, AND UPCOMING HIKES IN THE PARK.


LEAD 15 FREE PUBLIC HIKES AT THE PARK: MAINTAIN ALL TRAILS (OVER 32 MILES OF TRAILS), INCLUDING CLEANING FALLEN OR BROKEN TREES DUE TO HURRICANE AND/OR SNOWSTORM DAMAGE, REPAINTING TRAIL MARKERS, REMOVING INVASIVE SPECIES, TRASH CLEANUP, AND GENERAL TRAIL MAINTENANCE. PROVIDE GUIDANCE TO VOLUNTEERS (I.E. BOY SCOUTS, SCHOOL GROUPS, ETC.) WHO PERFORM WORK AT THE PARK. MAINTAIN GARDEN WITH PLANTS DESIGNED FOR THE PRESERVATION OF BUTTERFLIES AND WORK TO LIMIT THE DAMAGE DONE BY THE EMERALD ASH BORER. MAINTAIN WEBSITE WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THE PARK AND IT'S ACTIVITIES.


PURCHASE MERCHANDISE RELATED TO THE SLEEPING GIANT STATE PARK (I.E. T-SHIRTS, BOOKS, POSTERS, ETC.) FOR SALE TO MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC TO PROMOTE THE PARK AND THE ASSOCIATION, DEVELOP SUPPORT FROM MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC, AND MAINTAIN A HIGH LEVEL OF AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING SLEEPING GIANT STATE PARK AS ONE OF CONNECTICUT'S PREMIER STATE PARKS.
