CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY ACTION PROVIDES HELP, HOUSING, AND HOPE TO THOSE WHO ARE POOR IN NEW HAVEN

HILLSIDE FAMILY SHELTER PROVIDES EMERGENCY HOUSING (AVERAGE STAY OF 100 DAYS), FOOD, AND CASE MANAGEMENT TO FAMILIES THAT ARE HOMELESS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES MOTEL ASSISTANCE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS AND HOMELESSNESS DIVERSION AND OTHER FORMS OF EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES AS NEEDED.


CORE SERVICES(ALSO REFERRED TO AS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSISTANCE) MEETS THE IMMEDIATE AND BASIC NEEDS OF FAMILIES, SENIOR CITIZENS, AND PEOPLE WHO ARE DISABLED WHO LIVE IN THE HILL SECTION OF NEW HAVEN. THE SERVICES INCLUDE A FOOD PANTRY, WHICH OFFERS EMERGENCY FOOD ON A MONTHLY OR AS NEEDED BASIS, AND DIVERSION ASSISTANCE FROM HOMELESSNESS, WHICH INCLUDES RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND REFERRALS. IT ALSO INVOLVES OFFERING FUEL ASSISTANCE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS FOR PEOPLE WHOSE INCOMES ARE LOW AND DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS OR HAVE EXHAUSTED BENEFITS RELATED TO HEATING, ASSISTING PEOPLE WITH EVICTION, UTILITY AND SHUT OFF PROBLEMS, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, DIAPERS TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS WHO DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO PURCHASE THEM FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND THANKSGIVING FOOD/TURKEY BASKETS.


THE ACCESSING RESOURCES FOR INDEPENDENCE SKILL BUILDING AND EMPLOYMENT (ARISE) CENTER PROVIDES SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO FAMILIES THAT ARE AT RISK OF BECOMING HOMELESS AND/OR DESIRE TO ACHIEVE A HIGHER LEVEL OF FAMILY STABILITY AND ECONOMIC SECURITY. ARISE OFFERS EMPLOYMENT SEARCH ASSISTANCE, FAMILY SUPPORT AND REFERRAL TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT OFFER NEEDED SERVICES AND COUNSELING, INFORMATION ABOUT CHILD CARE SERVICES, REFERRALS, AS NEEDED, AND HEALTH, WELLNESS AND SKILL BUILDING WORKSHOPS.


ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION PROJECT ("AEP") ADDRESSES ISSUES CONCERNING WELFARE, HEALTH CARE, JOBS AND HOUSING. ADDITIONALLY, SUPPLEMENTAL MONIES ARE PROVIDED FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS.THE ARISE CENTER PROVIDES SUPPORT SERVICES TO FAMILIES WHO ARE AT RISK OF BEING HOMELESS. ARISE STANDS FOR ACCESSING RESOURCES FOR INDEPENDENCE SKILL BUILDING AND EMPLOYMENT. THE ARISE CENTER OFFERS SERVICES SUCH AS EMPLOYMENT SEARCH ASSISTANCE, FAMILY COUNSELING,& EMPOWERMENT, DAYCARE, CASE MANAGEMENT, REFERRALS, AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS WORKSHOPS.
