THE FOUNDATION OPERATES AND PRESERVES THE PORTER-PHELPS-HUNTINGTON MUSEUM, HISTORIC GROUNDS, GARDENS, AGRICULTURAL LAND, COLLECTIONS AND ARCHIVES AND PRESENTS HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMS FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

WEDNESDAY FOLK TRADITIONS, A PERFECT SPOT OF TEA, AND TOURS OF THE HISTORIC HOUSE MUSEUM INCLUDING PAID AND UNPAID DAYS WERE NOT HELD FOR A 2ND YEAR BECAUSE OF THE COVID PANDEMIC


SUMMER MUSEUM INTERNSHIPS WERE UNDERTAKEN BY SIX COLLEGE STUDENTS ORGANIZING, DESCRIBING, RESEARCHING, AND WRITING ABOUT THEM FOR THE MUSEUM WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK TO KEEP THE PUBLIC ENGAGED WITH THE MUSEUM WHILE IT WAS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. INTERNS WERE MASKED AND SAFELY DISTANCED AT DONATED 8 FOOT TABLES IN THE OPEN CORN BARN TO PERFORM THEIR RESEARCH IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.


BRIDGING THE PAST AND PRESENT ZOOM PRESENTATIONS WERE HELPD ON FIVE WEDNESDAYS AT 5 PM WITH SCHOLARS WHO HAVE UNDERTAKEN RESEARCH INTO THE MUSEUM'S COLLECTIONS. THE PROGRAMS WERE MADE AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE AND WERE POSTED ON THE MUSEUM'S UTUBE SITE AND ON THE WEBSITE. MASSHUMANITIES FUNDED THE PROJECT WITH A $1500 GRANT.
