TO HELP FAMILIES COPE WITH DEPRESSION AND BIPOLAR DISORDER TO GET PEOPLE WELL AND PREVENT SUICIDES. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS BY EDUCATING FAMILY CAREGIVERS TO RECOGNIZE DEPRESSION AND BIPOLAR DISORDER IN THEIR LOVED ONES AND HOW TO INTERNEVE TO GET THEM THE MENTAL HEALTH CARE THEY NEED. THE ULTIMATE GIALS ARE TO UNITE FAMILIES IN ADDRESSING MOOD DISORDERS AND TO PREVENT SUICIDES.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2020: -TRAINED 3,200 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH OUR WEBINARS AND VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS ON ADULT AND YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH, INCLUDING NATIONAL WEBINARS ON CAREGIVING FOR AN ADULT WITH DEPRESSION FROM A DISTANCE; TEEN DEPRESSION AND SUBSTANCE MISUSE; AND NON-SUICIDAL SELF-INJURY AMONG TEENS. -DISTRIBUTED 4,470 PRINT AND DIGITAL BROCHURES, FACT SHEETS, GUIDES, AND RESOURCE CARDS TO HELP PEOPLE UNDERSTAND ABOUT TOPICS SUCH AS MOOD DISORDERS, SUICIDE PREVENTION, HEALTH INSURANCE, AND TEEN MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS. -CREATED AND LAUNCHED AN ONLINE STRESS ASSESSMENT FOR FAMILY CAREGIVERS, STEERING THEM TO APPROPRIATE RESOURCES AND STRATEGIES BASED ON THEIR STRESS LEVELS. -DEVELOPED AND VIDEOTAPED A SERIES ON THE STAGES OF CHANGE TO HELP CAREGIVERS BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW TO INTERACT WITH THEIR LOVED ONES EXPERIENCING DEPRESSION, REDUCE FRUSTRATION, AND INCREASE EMPATHY.


MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2022: TRAINED 4,150 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH OUR WEBINARS, LIVESTREAMED EVENTS, AND IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS WHILE DISTRIBUTING MORE THAN 6,300 FACT SHEETS, RESOURCE CARDS, AND PUBLICATIONS; TOPICS INCLUDED, FOR EXAMPLE, HELPING A LOVED ONE TO MANAGE DEPRESSION TREATMENT, COMMUNICATING WITH TEENS ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH, FOSTERING FAMILY MENTAL HEALTH, TEENS AND TECHNOLOGY, AND PREVENTING TEEN SUICIDES. PRODUCED SIX LIVESTREAMED EVENTS, FIVE FAMILY STORIES, AND ELEVEN EXPERT INTERVIEWS TO EDUCATE, INSTRUCT, AND INSPIRE CAREGIVERS AS THEY SUPPORT THEIR LOVED ONES LIVING WITH DEPRESSION OR BIPOLAR DISORDER. LAUNCHED A NEW, COMPLETELY REORGANIZED WEBSITE AT FAMILYAWARE.ORG, IMPROVING ACCESS TO THE EDUCATION AND ONLINE TOOLS THAT FAMILY CAREGIVERS NEED WHEN THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR LOVED ONES' MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING.
