RESEARCH STUDIES CONDUCTED BY THE CENTER FOCUS ON IMPROVING THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF EYE DISEASE, SPECIFICALLY: GLAUCOMA, CATARACT, MACULAR DEGENERATION, LASER REFRACTIVE SURGERY AND DISEASES OF THE RETINA AND CORNEA. THE OPHTHALMOLOGY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, OVERSEEN BY THE CENTER, IS DESIGNED TO DEVELOP SKILLED MEDICAL AND SURGICAL OPHTHALMOLOGY CLINICIANS. IN ADDITION TO RESEARCH AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES, THE CENTER SUPPORTS PRO BONO EYE CARE TO PATIENTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO AFFORD TREATMENT.
