TO PROVIDE RELIEF TO SUCH OF THEIR MEMBERS AS MAY AT ANY TIME BECOME SICK OR INCAPACITATED AND NOT RECEIVING THEIR SALARY AS MEMBERS OF THE FIRE FIGHTING FORCE OF THE BOSTON FIRE DEPARTMENT OR THE BOSTON PROTECTIVE DEPARTMENT, OR TO THEIR FAMILIES, IN THE EVENT OF THEIR DECEASE, AND FOR MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES REQUIRING ASSISTANCE.
