PEER SUPPORT NAMI VERMONT PROVIDES SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS VIA THE WARM LINE FOR INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, DISTRIBUTION OF EDUCATIONAL BROCHURES AND NAMI CONNECTION SUPPORT GROUPS. NAMI CONNECTION IS A NAMI SIGNATURE SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATED BY TRAINED INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS. CONNECTION SUPPORT GROUPS MEET FOR 90 MINUTES AND ARE FREE TO ATTEND. AT THESE MEETINGS, INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS LEARN FROM ONE ANOTHERS EXPERIENCES, SHARE COPING STRATEGIES, AND OFFER MUTUAL ENCOURAGEMENT AND UNDERSTANDING. CONNECTION RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATORS COLLECTIVELY CONTRIBUTED 394.5 VOLUNTEER HOURS. TOTAL PARTICIPANTS 634


FAMILY ED THE NAMI FAMILY-TO-FAMILY EDUCATION COURSE IS A FREE, EVIDENCE-BASED 8-WEEK NAMI SIGNATURE PROGRAM STRUCTURED TO HELP FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS UNDERSTAND AND SUPPORT THEIR LOVED ONES WHILE MAINTAINING THEIR OWN WELL-BEING. THE CURRICULUM INCLUDES INFORMATION ON THE BRAIN, MEDICATION, TYPES OF MENTAL ILLNESSES, CRISIS MANAGEMENT, PROBLEM SOLVING, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, COPING STRATEGIES, SELF-CARE, RECOVERY AND ADVOCACY. THE COURSE IS TAUGHT BY VOLUNTEER TRAINED FAMILY MEMBERS. A TOTAL OF FOUR FAMILY-TO-FAMILY CLASSES WERE HELD TOTAL PARTICIPANTS ENROLLED 74. TOTAL PARTICIPANTS COMPLETED 61.


ANNUAL CONFERENCE - THIS YEARS PATHWAYS TO WELLNESS CONFERENCE WAS A VIRTUAL EVENT COMPRISED OF TWO HALF-DAYS. THE VIRTUAL EVENT WAS HELD ON ZOOM AND A TOTAL OF 125 PEOPLE REGISTERED TO ATTEND. WE HAD SIX SPONSORS FOR THE EVENT. THE CONFERENCE INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING SPEAKERS AND PRESENTATIONS - UNDERSTANDING AND HEALING FROM TRAUMA PRESENTED BY BESSEL VAN DER KOLK, MD, CLINICIAN, RESEARCH, AND TEACHER BEST KNOWN FOR HIS WORK WITH POSTTRAUMATIC STRESS, NAMI VERMONT IN OUR OWN VOICE PRESENTED BY MITZI BOCKMANN, NAMI VERMONT IN OUR OWN VOICE COORDINATOR, COMPASSION FATIGUE PRESENTED BY CATHERINE BURNS, PHD, LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST DOCTORATE, AND QUALITY CONSULTANT FOR VERMONT CARE PARTNERS, THE ART OF WELLNESS PRESENTED BY KEVIN HINES, WELLNESS ADVOCATE, SUICIDE SURVIVOR, MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER, AUTHOR, AD DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER, NAMI VERMONT ENDING THE SILENCE PRESENTED BY KRISTY HOMMEL, NAMI VERMONT ENDING THE SILENCE COORDINATOR, REIMAGINING CRISIS INTERVENTION PANEL DISCUSSION
