THE MISSION OF VOICES FOR GEORGIA'S CHILDREN, INC. (VOICES) IS TO ADVANCE LAWS, POLICIES, AND ACTIONS THAT IMPROVE CHILDREN'S LIVES - PARTICULARLY THOSE WHOSE LOCATION, FAMILY INCOME, RACE, OR FAMILY/COMMUNITY CIRCUMSTANCES LEAVE THEM MOST VULNERABLE. VOICES FOCUSES ON ENSURING ALL CHILDREN THRIVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SOLID START, STRONG AND STABLE FAMILIES, HEALTHY MINDS AND BODIES, AND FAIR TREATMENT IN SCHOOLS AND THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM.

WORKED TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES IN CHILD MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH THROUGH STATE AND FEDERAL POLICY AND COMMUNITY SYSTEMS AND PROGRAMS BY REPORTING ON CHILD HEALTH OUTCOMES AND CRITICAL ISSUES; MONITORING BUDGET AND REGULATORY CHANGES RELATED TO HEALTH COVERAGE, NUTRITION, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAMS, AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES; AND ENGAGING DIVERSE PARTNERS AND COMMUNITIES IN UNDERSTANDING AND PROMOTING THE HEALTH NEEDS OF CHILDREN THROUGH A COMPREHESIVE WHOLE CHILD FRAMEWORK.


PROMOTED IMPROVEMENT IN SERVICES AND OUTCOMES OF VULNERABLE YOUTH THROUGH RESEARCH AND DATA ANALYSIS; MONITORING BUDGET AND REGULATORY CHANGES RELATED TO CHILDREN IN STATE CUSTODY AND JUVENILE COURTS, AND SCHOOL CLIMATE AND CHILDREN AT RISK OF FAILURE IN SCHOOL. BUILT PARTNERSHIPS ACROSS GEORGIA TO CONNECT AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER LEARNING PROVIDERS, PROMOTED POLICIES AND PRACTICES TO EXPAND ACCESS TO OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMS, AND PROVIDED SERVICES AND SUPPORTS TO HELP YOUTH SERVING ORGANIZATION IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF PROGRAMMING.


PROMOTED IMPROVEMENT IN CARE AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN BY MONITORING BUDGET AND REGULATORY CHANGES FOR CHILD CARE LICENSING AND SUBSIDIES, PRE K PROGRAMS, MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH PROGRAMS AT BOTH THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL; PROMOTING POLICY AND INVESTMENT CHANGES THROUGH STATE AGENCIES, STATE AND FEDERAL LEGISLATION, AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP ORGANIZATIONS; AND ENGAGING LOCAL LEADERS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS, COALITIONS, AND DIRECT CITIZEN PARTICIPATION.
