THE SONSHINE SOUP KITCHEN EXISTS TO PROVIDE FREE MEALS FOR PERSONS IN NEED. IN 2022 10,800 MEALS WERE SERVED TO 10,799 MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN. THE SONSHINE SOUP KITCHEN SERVICED 9,889 PERSONS IN THE 201 DAYS WE SERVED MEALS IN 2022. INCLUDED IN THE EXPENSES CITED ABOVE, DONATED FOOD VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $67,567 WAS USED IN OUR MEAL PROGRAM. A NATURAL, BUT INDIRECT, OUTCOME OF VOLUNTEER-BASED MEAL PROGRAM IS THE PLATFORM THAT IS PROVIDED TO THE COMMUNITY FOR SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES. THIS IS AN INDIRECT, BUT IMPORTANT SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY THAT IS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE SONSHINE SOUP KITCHEN. SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES ARE PROVIDED TO PERSONS WHO HAVE SERVICE REQUIREMENTS AND ALSO TO THOSE WHO WISH TO FULFILL ALTRUISTIC TENDENCIES. IN RETURN A LARGE LABOR EXPENSE IS MINIMIZED FOR THE SOUP KITCHEN.
