THE TUITION-FREE, PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL ENROLLED 815 STUDENTS IN ITS FIFTH YEAR OF OPERATION IN GRADES K THROUGH 12 COMPARED TO 768 STUDENTS IN THE PRIOR YEAR. IN APRIL 2023, THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVED A 7-YEAR CHARTER RENEWAL FOR THE SCHOOL.THE SCHOOL OPERATES WITHIN A "SMALL SCHOOL" ENVIRONMENT ORGANIZED AROUND SMALLER, MORE PERSONALIZED UNITS OF ADULTS AND STUDENTS, GIVING STUDENTS A BETTER CHANCE OF BEING KNOWN AND NOTICED. HOWEVER, SMALL SCHOOLS ARE MORE THAN JUST SMALL IN SIZE AND FUNCTION; THEY ARE FORMED AROUND THREE CORE PRINCIPLES: ACADEMIC RIGOR, PERSONALIZED RELATIONSHIPS, AND RELEVANCE TO THE WORLD OF WORK.
