MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK FUNDING: ELEVEN PRIORITY PROJECTS FOR MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK WERE SUPPORTED BY FUNDS RAISED BY WNPF. THESE INCLUDED THE (1) VOLUNTEER PROGRAM, WHICH RECRUITS OVER 2,400 PARTICIPANTS TO COMPLETE CRITICAL PARK PROJECTS, SUCH AS TRAIL RESTORATION, THAT OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAPPEN; (2) MEADOW ROVERS, WHO EDUCATE PARK VISITORS ABOUT TREATING THE FRAGILE MEADOWS WITH CARE; (3) EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, ALSO KNOWN AS THE SUPERHEROES OF VACATION ROADSIDE MISHAPS; (4) ACCESS FOR ALL WHERE PARK STAFF EVALUATE TRAIL ACCESSIBILITY AND CREATE DIGITAL TRAILS GUIDE; (5) ALPINE GARDEN PROTECTION TEAM; (6) PREVENTATIVE SEARCH & RESCUE (PSAR) IN HIGH IMPACT PARK AREAS; (7) WTA TRAIL CREWS; (8) VISITOR ORIENTATION & TRAILS SAFETY INFO AT PARADISE; (9) VISITOR USE AND IMPACT MONITORING TO INFORM MEADOW RESTORATION & WILDERNESS STEWARDSHIP; (10) NIGHT SKIES INTERN; AND, (11) MEADOW RESTORATION. FUNDING WAS ALSO PROVIDED FOR AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION, DOCUMENTING AND RELOCATING NATIVE PLANTS, TRAIL WORK, AND MUCH NEEDED EQUIPMENT FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS.


OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK FUNDING: NINE OF OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARKS PRIORITY PROJECTS WERE SUPPORTED INCLUDING (1) ENGAGING TRIBAL YOUTH IN CO-DEVELOPMENT OF NATIVE CONSERVATION CORPS PROGRAM; (2) MAKAH YOUTH CULTURAL MONITORING TO ENSURE ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES ARE DOCUMENTED AND PROTECTED; (3) MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE PROGRAM; (4) ARTIST IN RESIDENCE; (5) YOUTH INTERNSHIPS; (6) NIGHT SKY INTERPRETATION; (7) NATIVE PLANT NURSERY; (8) ADVENTURES IN YOUR BIG BACKYARD WHERE THE PARK PARTNERS WITH THE LOCAL BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS TO FACILITATE RECREATIONAL EXPERIENCES FOR THE YOUTH PARTICIPANTS; AND, (9) ELK MONITORING USING WILDLIFE CAMERAS. FUNDING WAS ALSO PROVIDED TO REBUILD THE TECHNICAL ROPE RESCUE PROGRAM, CONDUCT TRAIL WORK, OPERATE THE KALALOCH RANGER STATION, AND MUCH NEEDED EQUIPMENT FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS.


NORTH CASCADES NATIONAL PARK FUNDING: FUNDS WERE USED TO FUND SEVERAL PRIORITY PROJECTS WITHIN NORTH CASCADES NATIONAL PARK INCLUDING THE FOOD SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES, PLACE-BASED LEARNING, NATIVE PLANT EDUCATION, AND FOOD SUSTAINABILITY FOR K-12 STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, LUMMI NATION, AND DARRINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT; RED BUS REPAIRS IN STEHEKIN; CASCADE BUTTERFLY PROJECT TO DOCUMENT THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE; TRACKING AND DOCUMENTING RARE CARNIVORES INCLUDING WOLVERINE, CANADA LYNX AND CASCADE RED FOX; WILDLIFE FORENSICS LABORATORY ANALYSES TO INFORM PARK STEWARDSHIP AND MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES; MONITORING THE WHITEBARK PINES; PARK MEDIC TRAINING; DIGITIZATION OF OLD PHOTOGRAPHS TO DOCUMENT WILDERNESS IMPACTS AND REVEGETATION EFFORTS; RESTORING BIG BEAVER VALLEY WETLANDS; AND, A GIS-BASED MAPPING TOOL. OTHER FUNDED PROJECTS AND ITEMS INCLUDED EQUIPMENT FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS.
