HONDURAS USFS INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS GREENWOOD TRAINS ARTISAN WOODWORKERSAND SAWYERS IN HONDURAS TO MAKE HIGH-QUALITY WOOD PRODUCTS FROM LEGAL, WELL-MANAGED FORESTS. WE HELP PROVIDE APPROPRIATE TOOLS AND PROVIDE TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION IN THEIR EFFICIENT OPERATION. IN IMPLEMENTING OUR PROJECT ACTIVITIES, WE COLLABORATE CLOSELY WITH OUR LOCAL NONPROFIT HONDURAN PARTNER, FUNDACION MADERA VERDE, WHICH PROVIDES FOREST MANAGEMENT TRAINING, SUPPORT AND OVERSIGHT.


HONDURAS ARTISAN WOOD PRODUCTION GREENWOOD IDENTIFIES AND CULTIVATES POTENTIAL NICHE MARKETS FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF ARTISAN WOOD PRODUCTS IN HONDURAS, MADE FROM LEGAL, WELL-MANAGED FORESTS. WE IDENTIFY CLIENTS, DESIGN PRODUCTS, OVERSEE TRAINING AND QUALITY CONTROL AND FACILITATE ALL ASPECTS OF PRODUCT SALES IN CLLABORATION WITH OUR LOCAL NONPROFIT HONDURAN PARTNER, FUNDACION MADERA VERDE.


PUERTO RICO USFSWOOD INNOVATIONS PROJECT GREENWOOD CREATED A UNIQUE ARTISAN ECOTOUR PROGRAM IN PUERTO RICO, COMBINING HIGH-LEVEL, PROFESSIONAL WOODWORKING INSTRUCTION WITH A GUIDED ECOTOUR EXPERIENCE. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS TO STRENGTHEN AWARENESS OF THE CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES TO MAINTAIN WELL-MANAGED FORESTS AND CONNECT SUSTAINABLY HARVESTED AND SALVAGED FOREST RESOURCES TO MARKETS FOR THOSE WOOD PRODUCTS. THE ARTISAN ECOTOUR PROGRAM ALSO AIMS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PUERTO RICAN ECONOMY AND STRENGTHEN LOCAL ARTISAN WOOD PRODUCTION AND MARKET OPPORTUNITIES.
