OUR MISSION IS TO EDUCATE AND ADVOCATE FOR THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF THE FOREST AND THE ECOLOGICAL, ECONOMIC, AND SOCIAL HEALTH OF MAINES FOREST COMMUNITY

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE HOLT RESEARCH FOREST IS THE SITE OF LONG-TERM FOREST ECOSYSTEM RESEARCH IN ARROWSIC, MAINE. MAINE TREE ACQUIRED THE 350-ACRE PROPERTY IN 2014 THROUGH A MERGER WITH THE HOLT WOODLAND RESEARCH FOUNDATION. IN 2021, THERE WAS A HARVEST ON THE PROPERTY AND ALSO, WE HAVE DONE SOME UPGRADES TO THE PROPERTY. WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE SOME TRAINING PROGRAMS ON THE PROPERTY AND HOPE TO INCREASE THAT IN 2022. WE ALSO HAD THREE INTERNS TO HELP WITH THE FOREST INVENTORY AND AFTER HARVEST INVENTORY.


CERTIFIED LOGGING PROFESSIONALS (CLP) PROVIDES TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO MAINE LOGGERS. THE PROGRAM IS COMMITTED TO RECOGNIZING THE SKILL AND PROFESSIONALISM OF THOSE WHO MEET AND EXCEED OUR STANDARDS. CLP HAD MANY TRAINING SESSIONS VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON AND TRAINED OVER 25 NEW CLPS ALONG WITH THE SITE VISITS REQUIRED.


TEACHERS TOUR WERE VERY WELL RECEIVED AFTER TAKING A YEAR OFF AND GOING VIRTUAL DUE TO COVID. AUSTIN WILKINS AWARD ALSO TOOK A YEAR OFF BECAUSE OF COVID. THE AWARD WAS SUCCESSFULLY GIVEN TO A VERY DESERVING CANDIDATE.
