Includes organizations that partner parents, families, schools, business and/or community leaders to broker resources for the benefit of local schools.

ADMINISTERS THE CAPITAL AREA TEEN COURT AND PRETRIAL SERVICES PROGRAM TO ADOLESCENTS AND/OR ADULTS WHO ARE CHARGED WITH A CRIME IN WAKE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL JUVENILE AND ADULT CRIMINAL SENTENCING, DETENTION AND INCARCERATION AT SIGNIFICANTLY LESS EXPENSE. RECIDIVISM RATES HAVE REMAINED CONSISTENTLY LOWER THAN OTHERWISE CHARGED INDIVIDUALS WITH NO INCREASED RISK TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

THE COUNCIL, IN PURSUIT OF ITS STATED MISSION, AIMS TO MEET THE FOLLOWING GOALS: A) INFORM AND EDUCATE COUNCIL MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT THE PROPER CARE OF TREES AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT AND ECONOMIC VALUE, B) PROMOTE HIGH STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONALISM AND PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION TO INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN THE CARE AND PRESERVATION OF TREES, C) PROMOTE THE COMPLIANCE WITH PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS OF ARBORICULTURE AND URBAN FORESTRY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, D) ENGAGE IN PARTNERSHIP BUILDING AND ADVOCACY WHILE MONITORING AND PURSING ISSUES THAT CONCERN URBAN FOREST SUSTAINABILITY, E) SUPPORT, ENCOURAGE, AND COMMUNICATE CONTINUED URBAN FORESTRY AND ARBORICULTURAL RESEARCH.
