THE MISSION OF THE FOOD BRIGADE IS TO ENSURE THAT NO CHILD OR ADULT IN NEW JERSEY GOES HUNGRY. OUR PRIMARY SERVICE IS TO PROVIDE FOOD, WHETHER IN THE FORM OF PREPARED MEALS OR FRESH AND PACKAGED FOODS, TO FAMILIES AND INIDIVIDUALS IN NEED. WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION BY BUILDING AND OPERATING A NETWORK OF PROVIDERS AND VOLUNTEERS WHO ASSIST IN THE ACQUISITION, TRANSPORT, PREPARATION, DISTRIBUTION, AND DELIVERY OF MEALS AND FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED.

OUR FOOD HUB'S EARNED INCOME MODEL SUPPORTS OUR OTHER PROGRAMS AND SERVICES. -GIVING BOX PROGRAM, PROVIDES FRESH, LOCAL PRODUCE TO NORTH LAKE TAHOE FAMILIES FACING FOOD INSECURITY. -FARM TO SCHOOL PROGRAM, PROVIDES PLACE-BASED EDUCATION AND HANDS-ON LEARNING TO TEACH STUDENTS THE IMPORTANCE OF LOCAL FOOD AND SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE. -FARMER RESILIENCY FUND, PROVIDES FUNDING TO FARMERS IN NEED OF TECHNICAL AND BUSINESS-RELATED ASSISTANCE TO ENSURE THEIR FARM'S VIABILITY. -FOREVER FARMS, PRESERVES AGRICULTURAL LAND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AGRICULTURAL STAKEHOLDERS IN NEVADA AND PLACER COUNTY.

TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE, WE PICKUP UNUSED, EXCESS FRESHLY PREPARED FOODS FROM INSTITUTIONS, DINING HALLS, AND CATERERS (THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE THROWN IN THE TRASH) AND REDIRECT TO NONPROFITS THAT FEED THE HUNGRY.

OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE FOOD-INSECURE PEOPLE WITH THE BEST FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FROM NEARBY FARMS, ALL AT DISCOUNTED PRICES. THIS WAY, EVERYONE CAN EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF COOKING AND EATING LOCALLY.
