FILM INDEPENDENT'S SPIRIT AWARDS, A TELEVISED AWARDS SHOW WHICH PROMOTES THE INDEPENDENT FILM COMMUNITY AND WHICH, OVER THE PAST 36 YEARS, HAS DONE MORE THAN ANY OTHER SINGLE EVENT TO PUT INDEPENDENT FILM ON THE MAP AND IN THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS. 2020-2021 ARTIST DEVELOPMENT HIGHLIGHTS:- PROJECT INVOLVE HAS SUPPORTED OVER 850 FILMMAKERS OVER THE PAST TWENTY-NINE YEARS THROUGH MASTER CLASSES, INDIVIDUAL MENTORSHIP, EDUCATIONAL AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES AND SHORT FILM PRODUCTION. AT LEAST 30 FILMMAKERS PARTICIPATED IN FY 20/21. DUE TO COVID MANY PROGRAM ACTIVITIES WERE CONDUCTED ONLINE BUT THE PROGRAM RAN IN FULL AND STILL INCLUDED SHORT FILM PRODUCTION, MODIFIED FOR COVID SAFETY.- THE DIRECTING, PRODUCING, SCREENWRITING, EPISODIC AND DOCUMENTARY LABS PROVIDE MENTORSHIP AND TRAINING ON THE ART AND BUSINESS OF FILMMAKING TO AT LEAST 100 FELLOWS ANNUALLY WITH FEATURE-LENGTH OR EPISODIC PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT.- FAST TRACK IS A HIGHLY CURATED FILM FINANCING MARKET, DESIGNED TO HELP PRODUCER-DIRECTOR TEAMS ADVANCE THEIR PROJECTS. FI FACILITATES UP TO 60 MEETINGS FOR FELLOWS WITH TOP EXECUTIVES, FINANCIERS, AGENTS, MANAGERS, DISTRIBUTORS, GRANTING ORGANIZATIONS AND PRODUCTION COMPANIES. IN 2021 THE PROGRAM WAS CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY, DUE TO COVID-19 CONCERNS.- FILM INDEPENDENT'S FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM ALLOWS APPLICANTS TO UTILIZE THE NON-PROFIT STATUS OF THE ORGANIZATION TO ACCESS GRANTS FROM FOUNDATIONS, INDIVIDUAL DONORS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER, 2021, THE FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM HAD APPROXIMATELY 238 ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS. OF THOSE, 89 JOINED THE PROGRAM WITHIN THE PERIOD OCTOBER 1, 2020 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2021.
