THE ASSOCIATION IS AFFILIATED WITH THE AFL-CIO WHICH HELPED ALL 387 PLUS ACTIVE MEMBERS AND THOSE AGENCY FEE PAYERS EXPAND OUR COMMUNICATION WITH THE COMMUNITY. A PORTION OF THE PARENTS OF OUR STUDENTS BELONG TO A DIVERSE GROUP OF LABOR UNIONS UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE COUNTY FEDERATION OF LABOR, LOS ANGELES. AS MEMBERS OF THIS BODY, WE EXPRESS OUR SOLIDARITY WITH THE PARENTS & COMMUNITY MEMBERS OF OUR STUDENTS.IN FISCAL YEAR ENDED 8/31/2021, MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE AS FOLLOWS:1) HELD FIRST ITA CANDIDATES TOWN HALL FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY ELECTIONS (CITY OF INGLEWOOD, IUSD SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER AND EL CAMINO COLLEGE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER). 2) SUCCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED AN MOU THAT ENSURED THE SLOW REOPENING OF SCHOOLS AND PROVIDED A STIPEND FOR OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES TO BARGAINING UNIT MEMBERS FOR EXPENSES INCURRED AS A RESULT OF WORKING REMOTELY. 3) HOSTED A VIRTUAL SCHOOL BOARD DINNER WITH ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS. DURING THE DINNER ITA AND CTA DISCUSSED HOW OUR UNION OPERATES AND BEGAN BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS AND UNION LEADERSHIP SO THAT WE CAN WORK MORE COLLABORATIVELY IN THE FUTURE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS, COMMUNITY AND STAFF IN THE INGLEWOOD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. 4) NO RIFF'S (REDUCTION IN FORCE LAYOFFS) FOR THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR- ALL THOSE INTERESTED IN CONTINUING THEIR EMPLOYMENT WITH IUSD FOR THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR WERE ABLE TO DO SO.
