THE MISSION OF WASATCH ADAPTIVE SPORTS IS TO ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALS WITH ADAPTIVE NEEDS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL AND ENGAGE IN ACTIVE LIVING THROUGH RECREATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND SOCIAL PROGRAMS.

SUMMER PROGRAMS WASATCH ADAPTIVE SPORTS PROVIDED 1,080 INSTRUCTIONAL LESSONS IN CYCLING AND PADDLING IN ADDITION TO 60 GROUP CYCLING EXPERIENCES TO 263 STUDENTS WITH ADAPTIVE NEEDS. AN ADDITIONAL 108 SUMMER LESSONS WERE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS WITHIN THE STUDENTS' SUPPORT NETWORK. IN THE SUMMER PROGRAM SURVEY, STUDENTS REPORTED EXPERIENCING INCREASED STRENGTH (96% OF RESPONDENTS), INCREASED INDEPENDENCE IN RECREATION (96%) AND DAY-TO-DAY LIFE (92%), IMPROVED SELF-ESTEEM (90%), INCREASED MOTIVATION TO BE ACTIVE (96%), AND IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE (96%) DUE TO SUMMER PROGRAM ENGAGEMENT.
WINTER PROGRAMS ACROSS BOTH WITNER AND SUMMER SESSIONS, WASATCH ADAPTIVE SPORTS DELIVERED A 32% INCREASE IN EXPERIENCE OVER THE PRIOR YEAR. WASATCH ADAPTIVE SPORTS PROVIDED OVER 1,331 INSTRUCTIONAL LESSONS IN SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING, AND 284 INDOOR CYCLING AND SNOWSHOEING EXPERIENCES TO 303 STUDENTS WITH ADAPTIVE NEEDS. AN ADDITIONAL 548 WINTER LESSONS WERE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS WITHIN THE STUDENTS' SUPPORT NETWORK. IN THE SURVEY DISSEMINATED TO STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 2020-21 WINTER PROGRAMS, RESPONDENTS REPORTED IMPROVEMENTS IN OVERALL MENTAL HEALTH (97% OF RESPONDENTS), PHYSICAL HEALTH(96%), QUALITY OF LIFE (97%), AND MOTIVATION TO BE ACTIVE (97%) AS A RESULT OF PROGRAM ENGAGEMENT.
