Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
THE MUSEUM OF SONOMA COUNTY, LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN SANTA ROSA, CA PRESENTS EXHIBITIONS OF CONTEMPORARY ART AND REGIONAL HISTORY. AS A RESULT OF THE COVID 19 SHUTDOWN MANDATES, THE MUSEUM WAS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FROM MARCH 2020 THROUGH MAY 2021. DUE TO THE EXTENDED CLOSURE, EXHIBITIONS AND PROGRAMS WERE PRESENTED ONLINE WITH A ROBUST ARRAY OF VIRTUAL EXHIBITION TOURS, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, AND INTERACTIVE ONLINE CONTENT. THE MUSEUM REOPENED LIMITED HOURS WITH STRICT COVID GUIDELINES FOR VISITORS FROM MAY OCTOBER 2021. THE MUSEUM RESUMED NORMAL HOURS IN OCTOBER 2021 BUT CONTINUED TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF VISITORS THROUGH THE END OF 2021. THE MUSEUM'S LARGE COLLECTION OF HISTORICAL OBJECTS AND ARTWORK, PRIMARILY FOCUSING ON THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA REGION, PROVIDED RICH CONTENT FOR ONLINE AND IN PERSON EXHIBITIONS PRESENTED DURING THE TIME OF COVID CLOSURE AND LIMITED OPENING.
THE MUSEUM OF SONOMA COUNTY'S COLLECTION IS COMPRISED OF OVER 18,000 ITEMS, INCLUDING FINE ART AND HISTORICAL OBJECTS. THE ART COLLECTION FOCUSES ON ARTISTS WHO HAVE LIVED, WORKED, TAUGHT, AND INFLUENCED THE ARTISTIC CULTURE OF SONOMA COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREAS.
