NAMI MULTNOMAH IS THE MULTNOMAH COUNTY AFFILIATE FOR THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS. OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH SUPPORT, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY. WE AIM TO PROVIDE A PLATFORM THAT ALLOWS PERSONS AFFECTED BY MENTAL ILLNESS TO HAVE A POWERFUL VOICE IN THE LOCAL MENTAL HEALTH COMMUNITY.NAMI MULTNOMAH PROVIDES FREE, PEER-LED EDUCATION PROGRAMS, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND ADVOCACY INITIATIVES THAT ACTIVELY SUPPORT COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH. WE PASSIONATELY PROMOTE IMPROVED ACCESS TO SERVICES, INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES FOR RECOVERY, REDUCED STIGMA AND DISCRIMINATION, AND INCREASED PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF MENTAL ILLNESS. WE STRONGLY BELIEVE IN OUR PEER-LED SERVICES. WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH AND WE ARE HERE TO HELP.

CHILD AND FAMILY PROGRAMS - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT AND EDUCATIONAL TRAINING TO FAMILIES AND CARETAKERS WITH SCHOOL-AGE DEPENDENTS WITH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONDITIONS.WRAPAROUND SERVICES/FAMILY PARTNERS - DIRECT SUPPORT TO FAMILIES PARTICIPATING IN MULTNOMAH COUNTY'S WRAPAROUND PROGRAM, WHOSE CHILDREN ARE INVOLVED WITH MULTIPLE SERVICE SYSTEMS SUPPORTING THE CHILD'S MENTAL HEALTH.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.CRISIS AND TRANSITION SERVICES/FAMILY PARTNERS - OFFERS SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY TO FAMILIES WHOSE CHILD HAS GONE TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT DUE TO A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS.FAMILY ENGAGEMENT - THIS PROGRAM WORKS TO INCREASE THE INVOLVEMENT OF FAMILY AND YOUTH IN MENTAL HEALTH POLICY-MAKING GROUPS AND ADVOCACY ROLES IN ORDER TO CREATE FAMILY-DRIVEN SERVICES.


EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS - THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES A VARIETY OF NAMI SIGNATURE AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS AND THEIR FAMILIES. ALL OF OUR NAMI SIGNATURE CLASSES AND GROUPS ARE TAUGHT/FACILITATED BY TRAINED NAMI MULTNOMAH VOLUNTEERS WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE. MANY OF OUR CLASSES OFFER CULTURALLY-SPECIFIC OPTIONS FOR THE BIPOC, LGBTQ+, AND VETERAN COMMUNITIES. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.AWARD-WINNING EDUCATIONAL CLASSES OFFERED INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:NAMI FAMILY-TO-FAMILY - FOR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF ADULTS WITH MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES.NAMI BASICS - FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION.NAMI HOMEFRONT - SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS OF VETERANS.NAMI PEER-TO-PEER - FOR PEERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING THEIR WELLNESS AND RECOVERY. PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST TRAINING - TRAINING FOR PEERS IN RECOVERY TO WORK AND SUPPORT OTHERS WHO ARE WORKING TOWARD RECOVERY.NAMI FAMILY SUPPORT GROUPS - FACILITATED SUPPORT GROUPS FOR FAMILIES, CAREGIVERS AND LOVED ONES OF ADULTS (18 AND OVER) WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS.NAMI CONNECTIONS RECOVERY PEER SUPPORT GROUPS - FACILITATED SUPPORT GROUPS FOR ADULTS (18 AND OVER) WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS.NAMI PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS - FACILITATED SUPPORT GROUPS FOR FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN (UNDER AGE 18) WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS.HELPLINE - A MENTAL HEALTH HELPLINE, FIELDING MORE THAN 2,100 CALLS FOR ASSISTANCE AND CONNECTIONS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES EVERY YEAR.


COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES AN ARRAY OF MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS PRESENTATIONS, ADVOCACY AND TABLING EVENTS, AND OUTREACH THROUGH NEWSLETTERS, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS. EXAMPLES OF OUTREACH ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:NAMI CONNECTS - OFFERING PEER MENTOR SUPPORTS IN LOCAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS TO PATIENTS EXPERIENCING BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CRISES.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OVETERANS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PEER SUPPORT SERVICES - OFFERING PEER SUPPORT TO VETERANS ON THEIR JOURNEY TOWARD RECOVERY. ENDING THE SILENCE - AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR USE WITH MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, FAMILIES AND STAFF.IN OUR OWN VOICE - PERSONAL PRESENTATIONS TO COMMUNITY GROUPS, SCHOOLS, CHURCHES, AND BUSINESSES.FIRST STEP - PRESENTATIONS IN HOSPITAL PSYCHIATRIC IN-PATIENT UNITS TO TALK WITH PEERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ABOUT RECOVERY.NAMI ON CAMPUS - WORKING TO INCREASE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AND EDUCATION ON LOCAL COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES. EVENING WITH THE EXPERTS - PRESENTATIONS BY LOCAL EXPERTS TO THE COMMUNITY, FOCUSING ON SPECIFIC MENTAL HEALTH TOPICS.RESOURCE GUIDE - A MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCE GUIDE FOR MULTNOMAH AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES.
