SUCCESS FOR LIFE - CONSISTS OF PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT BLIND AND DEAF YOUTHS' ABILITY TO TRANSITION FROM CHILDHOOD TO EARLY ADULTHOOD. THE CURRENT FLAGSHIP PROGRAM FOR SUCCESS FOR LIFE IS THE NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION. APPROXIMATELY 82 YOUTH, TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN SUCCESS FOR LIFE.
ART FOR LIFE - CONSISTS OF ART PROGRAMS AIMED AT CULTURAL ENRICHMENT, WHILE PROVIDING EXPERIENCE IN NECESSARY LIFE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. THE EARTH SHED ART PROGRAM FOR BLIND AND LOW-VISION STUDENTS IS OUR FLAGSHIP ART FOR LIFE PROGRAM. APPROXIMATELY 168 STUDENTS, TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN ART FOR LIFE PROGRAMS.
FIT FOR LIFE - CONSISTS OF SPORTS AND RECREATION PROGRAMS TO HELP BLIND, LOW VISION, DEAF, AND HARD-OF-HEARING YOUTH REACH THEIR PHYSICAL POTENTIAL, ENSURING HEALTHY, ACTIVE LIVES. OUR FLAGSHIP FIT FOR LIFE PROGRAM IS CAMP ABILITIES. IN ADDITION, WE SUPPORT OTHER FITNESS-RELATED PROGRAMS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND GRANT-MAKING. APPROXIMATELY 86 YOUTH, TEACHERS, PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN FIT FOR LIFE PROGRAMS.
LITERACY FOR LIFE - SUPPORTS LITERACY THROUGH PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON CREATIVITY, ACCESS TO ADAPTIVE COMMUNICATION TOOLS, AND WAYS OF ACCESSING INFORMATION WHICH PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR ADULT AND/OR PEER MENTORSHIP. SHARED READING PROJECT AND STORIES THAT SOAR ARE TWO PROGRAMS WHICH HAVE BEEN SUPPORTED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM AREA. APPROXIMATELY 227 YOUTH, TEACHERS, PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN OUR VARIOUS LITERACY FOR LIFE PROGRAMS.
