TO TEACH DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING CHILDREN TO SPEAK AND TO UNDERSTAND WHEN OTHERS SPEAK.

EARLY INTERVENTION - THIS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO AGE THREE. SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE ONE-ON-ONE PARENT COACHING, SMALL GROUP CHILD AND PARENT COACHING CLASSES, AS WELL AS TODDLER CLASS. OUTCOMES OF EARLY INTERVENTION INCLUDE EMPOWERED PARENTS THAT ARE ABLE TO ADVOCATE FOR THEIR CHILD'S EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND A SOLID LANGUAGE FOUNDATION FOR THE CHILD TO BUILD UPON IN THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM.


PRE-SCHOOL AND EARLY EDUCATION - PRESCHOOL CLASSES MEET 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR 6.5 HOURS PER DAY. THE CHILDREN ALTERNATE BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT SETTINGS, BOTH FOCUSING ON COMMUNICATION SKILLS. IN GROUPS OF TOW OR THREE CHILDREN, A LISTENING AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE PROFESSIONAL PROVIDED DIRECT LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION FOCUSING ON VOCABULARY, SYNTAX, CONVERSATIONAL LANGUAGE, ARTICULATION, AUDITORY TRAINING, AND LANGUAGE ENRICHMENT. THE SMALL STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO GIVES EACH CHILD MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO PRACTICE SYNTACTICALLY CORRECT LANGUAGE. THE PRESCHOOL OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A CHILD TO BECOME FULLY IMMERSED IN AN EDUCATION SETTING LEARNING THROUGH ORAL INSTRUCTION AND INTERACTING WITH CLASSMATES USING COMPLEX LANGUAGE.
