DAV DEPARTMENT OF AZ OVERSEES THE OPERATION OF THE 14 CHAPTERS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, PROVIDES TRAINING TO VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST VETERANS IN FILING THEIR CLAIMS WITH THE VA, PURCHASES VANS THAT ARE DONATED TO THE VA HOSPITALS TO TRANSPORT VETERANS TO AND FROM THEIR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, PROVIDES VOLUNTEER DRIVERS TO DRIVE THESE VANS AND EMPLOY TRANSPORTATION COORDINATORS AT EACH HOSPITAL TO COORDINATE THE DRIVERS SCHEDULES, SPONSORS A LEGAL PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES FREE ESTATE PLANNING, FAMILY LAW, AND OTHER LEGAL SERVICES TO VETERANS FREE OF CHARGE, AND SUPPORTS LOCAL STAND DOWNS TO HELP VETERANS IN NEED OF HOUSING AND OTHER COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECTS.
