TO EMPOWER INDEPENDENT AND NEIGHBORHOOD PET RETAILERS TO WORK TOGETHER AS PEERS FOR THE WELLBEING OF NORTH AMERICAN PETS AND PET OWNERS AS THEY MAINTAIN A STRONG, SUSTAINABLE AND GROWING PLACE AT THE HEART OF THE PET INDUSTRY.

INDIEPET HAD TWO MAJOR PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2021. THE FIRST PROGRAM WAS THE INDIEPET MEMBERSHIP DRIVE. THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A WEBSITE AND SOCIAL NETWORK, PRESENCE AT THE INDUSTRY TRADE SHOW, AND PARTNERSHIP BUILDING WITH INDUSTRY STAKEHOLDERS, INDIEPET SIGNED ROUGHLY 60 ASSOCIATE (MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTING COMPANIES) MEMBERS AND 40 RETAILER MEMBERS TO GENERATE MEMBERSHIP DUES REVENUES. INDIEPET SUCCESSFULLY HIRED STAFF AND FILED NECESSARY REGULATORY RECORDS. DURING THE 2021 YEAR, INDIEPET HELD 2 BOARD MEETINGS TO SPECIFICALLY ESTABLISH A STRATEGIC PLAN THAT BUILDS PROGRAMS IN SPECIFIC OPERATIONAL AREAS WHERE RETAIL MEMBERS REQUIRE SUPPORT. INDIEPET HAS ALSO SUCCESSFULLY BUILT MEMBER COMMITTEES WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BUILDING AND IMPLEMENTING SPECIFIC PROGRAMS AND SERVICES. INDIEPET'S SECOND MAJOR PURPOSE ACCOMPLISHMENT WAS FURTHERING THE EDUCATION OF INDIVIDUALS IN THE INDEPENDENT PET RETAIL INDUSTRY. INDIEPET HELD AN EDUCATIONAL MEETING AT THE SUPER ZOO TRADE SHOW IN LAS VEGAS IN AUGUST OF 2021. THE CONFERENCE CONSISTED OF PRESENTATIONS FROM INDIEPET OFFICERS ON THE OVERALL INDUSTRY SIZE AND TRENDS. THE PET SUSTAINABILITY COALITION PRESENTED SUSTAINABLE BEST PRACTICES. AND SPINS MEMBERS PRESENTED CATEGORY INSIGHTS IN THE PET SPACE. INDIEPET GATHERED OVER 300 PEOPLE TO ATTEND THE MEETING RESULTING IN ADDED MEMBERSHIP TO THE ASSOCIATION. THIS EDUCATIONAL AND NETWORKING EVENT PROVIDED THE GROUNDWORK FOR FUTURE EDUCATION PROGRAMS PROVIDED BY THE ASSOCIATION. 2022 WAS DEDICATED TO DEVELOPING VALUE FOR RETAIL MEMBERS AND SAW A NUMBER OF BENEFITS AND RESOURCES MADE AVAILABLE INCLUDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULAR INDIECHATS - A PLACE FOR RETAIL MEMBERS TO COME TOGETHER TO SHARE AND LEARN ABOUT TOPICS OF INTEREST; SPECIAL OFFERS FROM ASSOCIATE MEMBERS INCLUDING DISCOUNTED SERVICES, WEBINARS, AND TRADESHOW SPECIALS; PRODUCT AND CONSUMER INSIGHTS REPORTS; AND MORE. THE BOARD WAS EXPANDED AND NEW MEMBERS SELECTED WHO REPRESENT NINE RETAIL BUSINESSES OF VARYING SIZES.
