TO TURN THE TIDE OF OUR OCEANS BY SAVING OUR CORAL REEFS THROUGH RESTORATION, TECHNOLOGY, DEMONSTRATION, TRAINING EDUCATION AND OUTREACH AND TO PROVIDE A PLATFORM FOR SUPPORTERS TO CARRY OUT OUR MISSION.

SCHMIDT FOUNDATION GRANT PROJECT FOR 2021. TOTAL GRANT RECEIVED FOR PROJECT SO FAR IS $200,000 IN 2020 AND $125,000 IN 2021. THE ONLY REVENUES GENERATED FROM THE PROGRAM SERVICES WERE THE $3600 IN WORKSHOP TUITIONS RECEIVED.DEVELOPED THE FIRST TRANSPORTABLE CORAL NURSERY SYSTEM IN 2020. CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF THE PORTABLE CORAL RESTORATION UNIT (CRU) TO INCLUDE SOLAR COMPONENTS TO BE USED IN REMOTE AREAS OR FOR PRACTITIONERS WHO WANT TO BE OFF GRID. THE NEW CRUS WILL BE IN A 20FT. CONTAINER INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF A 40 FOOT CONTAINER. THE SIZE DEPENDS ON THE AMOUNT OF PRODUCTION NEEDED. COMPONENTS OF THE CRUS HAVE BEEN PERFECTED TO INCLUDE BETTER SHADING FOR THE TANKS, AND BETTER PLANTING STRUCTURES WHICH ARE ABLE TO BE MANUFACTURED ON SITE AT 1/10TH THE COST ALONG WITH THE PLANTING PLUGS.THE GRANT ALSO COVERED TRAINING PROGRAMS. ONCE A WEEK TRAINING WAS CONDUCTED WITH THE HIGH ADVENTURE BOY SCOUT CAMP LOCATED ON SUMMERLAND KEY REACHING NEARLY 250 STEM STUDENTS. A REMOTE TRAINING WAS CONDUCTED WITH THE CORAL GARDENERS ON MOREA. A HANDS ON 5 DAY WORKSHOP WAS CONDUCTED ON SUMMERLAND KEY WITH 22 PARTICIPANTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND RANGING FROM INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT RESTORATION, PRACTITIONERS, STATE AND FEDERAL AGENCY EMPLOYEES, AND COLLEGE PROFESSORS. AS PART OF THE PROJECT, PLANT A MILLION CORALS FOUNDATION (PAMCF) WORKED WITH REEF GEN, A ROBOTIC DESIGN COMPANY DESIGNING A ROBOTIC CHAIN FOR PLANTING. PAMCF SERVED AS A CONSULTANT TO THE PROJECT.


11TH HOUR RACING LEGACY GRANT PROJECTTOTAL GRANT RECEIVED WAS 70,000 IN 2021. NO REVENUES WERE GENERATED FROM THE PROGRAM SERVICES DONE.NEWLY DESIGNED TANKS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AND PERFECTED UNDER THIS PROJECT. THE TANKS ARE MADE OF ACRYLIC SO THEY ARE ABLE TO HOLD MORE CORALS IN LESS SPACE. THE AERATION HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO CIRCULATE THE WATER IN A CIRCULAR MOTION FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND UP AND DOWN. THE COST OF THE TANKS WILL BE AT LEAST HALF OF THE FIBERGLASS TANKS AND WILL BE AVAILABLE IN MUCH LESS TIME. THESE NEW TANKS ARE EASIER TO SHIP IN THE CRUS AND ARE EASILY SET UP.


RIVER BRANCH FOUNDATION PROJECT FOR ORGANIZATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE.GRANT RECEIVED IN 2021 WAS $150,000. 2021 EXPENSES FOR THE PROJECT IN 2021 WERE $62,981. NO REVENUES WERE GENERATED FROM THE PROGRAM SERVICES DONE.THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE PAMCF FACILITY ON SUMMERLAND KEY IS PROGRESSING. A CLASSROOM HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE FACILITY AND HAS BEEN OUTFITTED WITH DESKS, CHAIRS AND MICROSCOPES FOR FUTURE WORKSHOPS. THE CLASSROOM WILL ALSO PROVIDE SOME OFFICE SPACE. A WORK TRAILER IS BEING USED FOR STORAGE OF EQUIPMENT. A SOLAR PUMP HAS BEEN INSTALLED AT THE NURSERY AS WELL AS SHADING OVER THE TANKS. PLANS FOR A MOBILE CLASSROOM ARE UNDERWAY. COLLABORATIONS WITH EDUCATORS ARE DEVELOPING CURRICULUM MATERIALS TO BE USED IN CLASSROOMS.THE GRANT ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORT FOR KEY PERSONNEL OF PAMCF. THE GRANT WAS AWARDED IN JUNE 2021 AND WILL CONTINUE TO JUNE 2022.
