THE ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS AND PROFESSIONALS-ANWEP IS A 501(C)3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. ANWEP MEMBERS COMPRISE OF WOMEN PROFESSIONALS AND ENTREPRENEURS WHO ARE IMMIGRANTS OF AFRICAN DESCENT LIVING AND WORKING IN THE STATE OF TEXAS AND OTHER STATES WITHIN THE USA. 60% OF OUR MEMBERS ARE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS (PHYSICIANS, DENTISTS, NURSES AND NURSE PRACTITIONERS). 10% ARE SOFTWARE ENGINEERS AND IT PROFESSIONALS AND 30% ARE ENTREPRENEURS WHO OPERATE THEIR OWN BUSINESSES RANGING FROM RESTAURANTS, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, ACCOUNTING, AND FINANCIAL SERVICES, LEGAL ETC. OUR MISSION IS TO EDUCATE, INSPIRE, EMPOWER, AND MENTOR WOMEN AND GIRLS IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH THE EMPOWER GIRLS IN STEM MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS, AWARDS/RECOGNITION PROGRAMS, TEEN EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOPS AND SUPPORT FOR WOMEN WHO ARE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OR SEXUAL ABUSE. PROJECT TITLE: ANWEP COVID-19 LITERACY PROJECT TARGETING AFRICAN IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES IN TEXAS. PURPOSE: TO ENGAGE THE AFRICAN IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY IN THE STATE OF TEXAS IN PROACTIVE COVID19 VACCINE EDUCATION AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES WITH THE GOAL OF INCREASING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE FULLY VACCINATED FOR COVID-19 IN TEXAS. ANWEP WILL TARGET THE AFRICAN IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES IN TEXAS WITH THE AIM TO A) INCREASE TRUST REGARDING THE COVID-19 VACCINE, B) INCREASE ACCESS TO AND PROVIDE NAVIGATION SUPPORT FOR OBTAINING THE VACCINE AND VACCINE BOOSTER, COVID-19 TESTING AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE), C) PROVIDE EDUCATION ABOUT VACCINE FACTS, TRANSMISSIBILITY, HOW TO KEEP CHILDREN SAFE, AND COVID-19 GENERAL INFORMATION.
