LIVING AND LEARNING ENRICHMENT CENTER IS COMMITTED TO ENHANCING THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS THROUGH SOCIAL, JOB AND LIFE-SKILLS TRAINING.

Part 3 - Line 4a

VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS DURING 2021, 68 MEMBERS RECEIVED VOCATIONAL SERVICES, A 84% INCREASE OVER MEMBERS SERVED IN 2020. VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS 18 YEARS AND OLDER INCLUDE PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRAINING, WORK SKILLS EVALUATION, 1:1 JOB COACHING SERVICE, WORK EXPERIENCES, JOB PLACEMENT AND JOB RETENTION. COMMUNITY SKILL BUILDING IN CONJUNCTION WITH OAKLAND COUNTY FOCUSES ON EMPLOYMENT AT VARIOUS JOB SITES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.


SOCIAL SKILLS - LLEC OFFERS A VARIETY OF SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAMS INCLUDING WEEKEND HANGOUTS AND OTHER SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, SUMMER CAMP, ART AND MUSIC THERAPY, AND PERFORMING ARTS. THESE PROGRAMS OFFER SOCIAL SKILLS PRACTICE IN A SAFE, GUIDED ENVIRONMENT AND EACH CLIENT DEVELOPS GOALS TO ACHIEVE THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAM. NEUROTYPICAL PEER VOLUNTEERS SERVE AS MENTORS IN OUR PROGRAMS AND MODEL SOCIALLY APPROPRIATE BEHAVIORS. LLEC ADDED A SECOND LOCATION TO EXPAND PROGRAMING TO INCLUDE 1:1 APPLIED BEHAVIORAL ANALYSIS (ABA) SERVICES, WHICH IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE.


IT ACADEMY NOW IN ITS THIRD YEAR OF OPERATION, THE IT ACADEMY, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CORPORATE SPONSORS, PROVIDES TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATION AND CYBER SECURITY TRAINING TO LLEC MEMBERS AND EDUCATES AREA COMPANIES ON THE MANY ADVANTAGES OF EMPLOYING ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES. LLEC MEMBERS COMPLETING THE PROGRAM HAVE A CAREER PATH AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES THAT WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE AVAILABLE TO THEM.


MOD MARKET, OPENED IN 2019 AND LOCATED IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN NORTHVILLE, IS AN ARTISAN MARKET, UNIQUE GIFT SHOP AND COFFEE BAR. MOD MARKET PROVIDES JOB TRAINING, A 12-WEEK CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IN RETAIL SALES AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. A NEWLY ADDED PROGRAM, PRODUCT MAKING ALLOWS STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS FROM IDEA CONCEPTION TO STORE SHELF.
