GIRLS ON THE RUN ("GOTR") PORTLAND METRO OFFERS A 10-WEEK POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, WHICH IS HELD ONCE A YEAR FOR GIRLS IN 3RD-8TH GRADES. OUR PURPOSE IS TO EDUCATE AND PREPARE GIRLS FOR A LIFETIME OF SELF-RESPECT AND HEALTHY LIVING. THE ORGANIZATION ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY TEACHING A RESEARCH-BASED CURRICULUM FOCUSED ON BUILDING SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL SKILLS IN GIRLS WHILE ENCOURAGING HEALTHY HABITS FOR LIFE. THE GIRLS COMPLETE THE PROGRAM WITH A JOYFUL AND NON-COMPETITIVE 5K EVENT. THIS EVENT GIVES GIRLS A TANGIBLE SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AND A PLACE TO CELEBRATE WITH THEIR TEAM, FAMILY AND FRIENDS. GIRLS ON THE RUN PORTLAND METRO DIRECTLY SERVES THEIR COMMUNITIES BY DELIVERING GOTR AND HEART & SOLE PROGRAMMING IN CLACKAMAS, CLARK, MULTNOMAH, AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES.
