PROVIDES LIFESAVING HEART SURGERY TO CHILDREN FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHERE SPECIALIZED MEDICAL TREATMENT IS EITHER SCARCE OR NONEXISTENT.

PROVIDES LIFESAVING HEART SURGERY TO CHILDREN FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHERE SPECIALIZED MEDICAL TREATMENT IS EITHER SCARCE OR NONEXISTENT. MAJOR PROGRAM COSTS INCLUDE THE COST OF THE MEDICAL TREATMENTS AND THE TRANSPORT AND CARE COSTS FOR THE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILY DURING TREATMENT. NON-CASH RELATED DONATIONS OF MEDICAL SERVICES, MEDICAL FACILITIES, AND OTHER SERVICES TOTALED APPROXIMATELY $3,133,318 IN 2021. BEGINNING IN 2017, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED INTERNATIONAL FUNDING FOR PHYSICIANS TRAVELING TO BOLIVIA TO PERFORM HOSPITAL SERVICES. THE FUNDING WAS TO COVER EXPENSES FOR TRAVEL, HOTEL, AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. STRATEGICALLY, HEARTGIFT INTENDED TO REVIEW ITS MISSION EXPANSION OPPORTUNITIES INTERNATIONALLY; HOWEVER, THAT PLAN WAS RESERVED FOR EXPLORATION IN 2022. IN MARCH 2020, AFTER THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC HIT, HEARTGIFT WORKED COLLABORATIVELY WITH THEIR INTERNATIONAL AID PARTNERS TO DEVISE A NEW STRATEGY TO PROVIDE LIFE- SAVING HEART SURGERIES TO CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD, CLOSER TO THEIR HOME, IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY. AS A RESULT, THE INTERNATIONAL GRANT PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED. THROUGH THIS GRANT PROGRAM, HEARTGIFT IS NOW ABLE TO CONTINUE TO HELP SAVE CHILDREN BY FUNDING LIFE-SAVING HEART SURGERIES AND PROCEDURES AS REFERRED BY THEIR INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES.
