AT THE SONOMA VALLEY MENTORING ALLIANCE. WE BUILD LONG TERM MENTOR RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN YOUTH AND CARING ADULTS. MENTORS HELP THEIR MENTEES VISUALIZE AND WORK TOWARDS ACHIEVING THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.WE CAREFULLY MAKE MATCHES ACCORDING TO COMMON INTERESTS AND NEEDS. MENTORS GUIDE THEIR MENTEES THROUGHOUT THEIR SCHOOL YEARS, INTRODUCING THEN TO EXPERIENCES AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS THEIR DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS. UPON GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL, OUR MENTEES HAVE DEVELOPED A PLAN FOR THEIR YOUNG LIVES.

SCHOOL BASED MENTORING - SONOMA VALLEY MENTORING ALLIANCE MAINTAINED EIGHT MENTORING CENTERS LOCATED ON PUBLIC SCHOOL CAMPUSES IN THE SONOMA VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (5 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, 2 MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND 1 HIGH SCHOOL). THESE CENTERS PROVIDE OVERSIGHT AND ASSISTANCE TO OUR ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING MATCHES BETWEEN AN ADULT MENTOR AND A YOUTH MENTEE (GRADES K-12) DURING THE NINE MONTHS OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. IN THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022, THESE CENTERS PROVIDED SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 300 MENTOR-MENTEE MATCHES.


ROAD MAP TO YOUR FUTURE PROGRAMS - THESE ACTIVITIES PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR MENTOR-MENTEE MATCHES TO EXPERIENCE OFF-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING CULINARY CLASSES AND FIELD TRIPS TO BAY AREA COMPANIES TO GET IDEAS AND INSPIRATION FOR FUTURE CAREER POSSIBILITIES.


SCHOLARSHIP AND COLLEGE SUCCESS PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO MENTEES IN OUR PROGRAM WHO ARE SENIORS IN HIGH SCHOOL. THE PROGRAM OFFERS PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS TO THOSE WHO ARE ENROLLED IN TWO OR FOUR YEAR COLLEGE PROGRAMS OR TRADE SCHOOL. IN THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022, 5 COLLEGE MENTEES WERE SERVED BY THIS PROGRAM.
