PUBLIC AWARENESS AND EDUCATION: ST. JOHNS RIVERKEEPERS STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ORGANIZED RIVER CLEANUPS, PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES FOR SCHOOLS AND YOUTH, PARTICIPATED IN NUMEROUS VIRTUAL EVENTS, AND PROVIDED PRESENTATIONS TO CIVIC AND BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS. ST. JOHNS RIVERKEEPER ALSO PROVIDED WEBINARS TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT ISSUES IMPACTING THE ST. JOHNS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO EDUCATED THE PUBLIC ABOUT HOW TO BE RIVER FRIENDLY, AND ENGAGED NEARLY 50 VOLUNTEERS IN THE EXECUTION OF ITS ADVOCACY AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS.


PARTICIPATED IN NUMEROUS GOVERNMENT POLICYMAKING AND RULEMAKING INITIATIVES TO ADVOCATE FOR PROTECTIVE WATER QUALITY STANDARDS, WATER CONSERVATION, AND POLICIES TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE HEALTH OF THE ST. JOHNS RIVER. WORKED TO ENSURE CONSISTENT COMPLIANCE BY PERMITEES, SUFFICIENT ENFORCEMENTS BY REGULATORY AGENCIES, AND PROTECTIVE CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR NPDES, CUP, AND ERP PERMITS. INVESTIGATED CITIZEN COMPLAINTS REGARDING POSSIBLE VIOLATIONS OF ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS AND TOOK ACTION WHEN NECESSARY TO ENSURE PROPER RESOLUTION. ADVOCATED FOR FUNDING AND PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS IMPACTING THE HEALTH OF THE ST. JOHNS RIVER.
