NARRATIVE OF CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES - 2021 THE ST. CATHERINE'S ISLAND FOUNDATION, INC.'S (SCIF) ACTIVITIES ARE CENTERED ON CONSERVATION, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, AND EDUCATION. THE ACTIVITIES ARE CONDUCTED FOR THE MOST PART ON ST. CATHERINE'S ISLAND (SCI), ONE OF GEORGIA'S SEA ISLANDS, LOCATED 35 MILES SOUTH OF SAVANNAH, GEORGIA. SCI HAS NO COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT OR LARGE RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITIES, AND IT IS USED FOR THE STUDY OF BARRIER ISLAND NATURAL HISTORY, WITH ITS NATURAL HABITATS BEING MANAGED AS HAVENS FOR NATIVE ENDANGERED AND THREATENED SPECIES AS WELL AS SPECIES OF SPECIAL CONCERN. DURING THE SUMMER OF 2021, OYSTERCATCHER AND WILSON'S PLOVER NESTS WERE MONITORED AND PROTECTED BY GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES WILDLIFE INTERNS IN COOPERATION WITH SCIF STAFF. IN ADDITION, APPROPRIATE AREAS OF SCI ARE BEING MANAGED FOR THE BREEDING AND STUDY OF AN ENDANGERED AND THREATENED LEMUR SPECIES FROM MADAGASCAR.
