THE METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON COUNCIL'S MISSION IS TO ORGANIZE IN THE COMMUNITY IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE SOCIAL JUSTICE FOR ALL WORKING PEOPLE THROUGH THE UNITING OF THE LABOR MOVEMENT AND MOBILIZING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.

CLAIMANT ADVOCACY PROGRAM - THE COUNCIL HAS CONTRACTED WITH THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TO PROVIDE LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO EMPLOYEES INVOLVED IN ADMINISTRATIVE APPEALS OF UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CLAIMS DETERMINATIONS. THE AMOUNTS PAID ON THE CONTRACT ARE DEPENDENT UPON HOW MANY EMPLOYEES ARE REPRESENTED.
