ANIMAL WELFARE, ANIMAL SHELTER, RESCUES/ADOPTIONS, SPAY/NEUTER AND WELLNESS SERVICES FOR DOMESTIC PETS (CATS AND DOGS),CRUELTY AND NEGLECT INVESTIGATORS AND HUMANE EDUCATION.

OUR SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC HOLDS SPECIAL SURGERY EVENTS TO OFFER FREE AND LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER OF DOGS AND CATS. WE ALSO PROVIDE BASIC WELLNESS SERVICES(SUCH AS VACCINATIONS, NAIL TRIMS, EAR CLEANINGS, MICROCHIPPING, ETC) AT THE TIME OF SURGERY.MONTHLY, WE HOLD LOW-COST VACCINATION CLINICS FOR CATS AND DOGS, WHERE THEY CAN GET RABIES AND DISTEMPER VACCINES AND MICROCHIPS. THESE EVENTS NOT ONLY PROVIDE MUCH-NEEDED SERVICES TO THE PUBLIC, WHILE RAISING PROGRAM FUNDS FOR OPERATING COSTS OF THE CLINIC.
THROUGH OUR ADOPTIONS PROGRAM, WE RESCUE AND RE-HOME DOGS AND CATS FROM THE PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY SHELTER. THESE ANIMALS WHO ARE SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ADAPTED FROM THE SHELTER.WE CAREFULLY SCREEN AND SELECT THE MOST ADOPTABLE ANIMALS, FOSTER THEM IN VOLUNTEERS' HOMES, AND PLACE THEM WITH NEW ADOPTIVE FAMILIES AFTER GIVING THE ANIMALS THE NECESSARY MEDICAL TREATMENT. OUR ADOPTABLE ANIMALS HAVE RECEIVED ALL CORE VACCINES, INCLUDING SPAY/NEUTERED AND MICROCHIPPED. ADDITIONALLY, THE ANIMALS HAVE TESTED NEGATIVE FOR HEARTWORM(AND RECEIVED HEARTWORM AND FLEA/TICK PREVENTATIVE).DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION, WE MAY RESCUE MEDICAL NEEDY ANIMAL WHO REQUIRE MORE EXPENSIVE TREATMENT.
THROUGH OUR CRUELTY/NEGLECT PREVENTION PROGRAM, WE RUN A 24-HOUR HOTLINE FOR PUBLIC REPORTS OF CRUELTY, ABUSE AND NEGLECT OF ALL ANIMALS INCLUDING WILDLIFE, LIVESTOCK AND DOMESTIC PETS. WE HANDLE ABOUT 2,400 CASES A YEAR,FOLLOWING UP WITH INTERVIEWS, PHOTOGRAPHS, ON-SITE MONITORING AND OTHER INVESTIGATIONS AS NEEDED. WE COLLABORATE WITH COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS TO RESOLVE AND ESCALATE CASES AS NECESSARY, AND WE ASSISTCITIZEN COMPLAINANTS WITH THE PROCESS.MOST CASES INVOLVE LOCAL ANIMALS, HOWEVER, WE MAY BE CONTACTED ABOUT SITUATIONS INVOLVING OTHER JURISDICTIONS FOR CONSULTATION AS NEEDED.
