DIRECTORY OF RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAMS. ICPI PUBLISHES AN ONLINE DIRECTORY OF PATHOLOGY RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAMS. THE DIRECTORY HAS BEEN ONLINE-ONLY SINCE 2017 WHEN THE 50TH EDITION WAS PUBLISHED. THE RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAM INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE DIRECTORY IS AVAILABLE FOR FREE TO THE PUBLIC. REVENUE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DIRECTORY IS ASSOCIATED WITH LISTING FEES FOR PROGRAMS TO HAVE THEIR INFORMATION INCLUDED ON THE WEBSITE.


MEDICAL STUDENT INTEREST GROUPS. ICPI BEGAN IN 2009 TO SUPPORT MEDICAL STUDENT INTEREST GROUPS WITH A FOCUS ON PATHOLOGY. INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATIVES APPLY TO ICPI FOR CREATION OR SUPPORT OF AN EXISTING MEDICAL STUDENT INTEREST GROUP. NEW PROGRAMS RECEIVE $600/YEAR AND EXISTING/RETURNING PROGRAMS RECEIVE $500/YEAR. THIS PROGRAM IS A VERY HIGH PRIORITY FOR THE ICPI BOARD. HENCE, IN SOME YEARS ICPI PROVIDES FUNDING FOR ALL APPLICANT ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2020, ICPI FUNDED 14 MEDICAL STUDENT INTEREST GROUPS.


PATHOLOGY HONOR SOCIETY. THE PATHOLOGY HONOR SOCIETY FOSTERS SCHOLARSHIP AND EXCELLENCE IN ACADEMIC AND SERVICE PATHOLOGY AS DEFINED IN THE BROADEST SENSE; OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZES SPECIAL APTITUDE AND INTEREST IN THE DISCIPLINE OF PATHOLOGY; ESTABLISHES A COLLEGIAL GROUP WITHIN THE DISCIPLINE OF PATHOLOGY FOR THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL INTERCHANGE AT EACH PARTICIPATING SCHOOL OF MEDICINE; PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT; AND INCREASES THE POOL OF HIGHLY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS WITH APTITUDE AND INTEREST IN PATHOLOGY IN ORDER TO FOSTER CONTINUING EXCELLENCE IN THIS SPECIALTY.THE PATHOLOGY HONOR SOCIETY IS ORGANIZED AT THE LEVEL OF EACH PARTICIPATING MEDICAL SCHOOL WITH THE CHAIR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY, OR DESIGNEE, ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITY FOR EXECUTION OF THE PROGRAM. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES REMAIN THE PURVIEW OF EACH INDIVIDUAL MEDICAL SCHOOL. STUDENT MEMBERS ARE SELECTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY AT EACH PARTICIPATING SCHOOL OF MEDICINE ON THE BASIS OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: (I) SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT IN THE PATHOLOGY CURRICULUM, (II) RESEARCH ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A MEDICAL UNDERGRADUATE, (III) LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL, AS EVIDENCED BY ACTIVITIES AS A MEDICAL UNDERGRADUATE, AND (IV) OVERALL EXCELLENCE, WITH POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP FURTHER ACADEMICALLY. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE NUMBER OF NOMINATED STUDENTS BE NO LARGER THAN 10% OF THE CLASS SIZE FROM A GIVEN INSTITUTION. THIS PROGRAM IS FREE TO THE PARTICIPATING MEDICAL SCHOOLS. IN 2019, THE PATHOLOGY HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTED STUDENTS FROM 10 MEDICAL SCHOOLS.
