CHILD & FAMILY SERVICESST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE RECOGNIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF PROVIDING HOLISTIC SUPPORT TO CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES TO HELP BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY AND ENSURE THEY HAVE THE RESOURCES TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AND OPERATES THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES: HEAD START AND EARLY HEAD STARTST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE HAS OPERATED HEAD START AND EARLY HEAD START SERVICES SINCE 2002, SERVING OVER 720 CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN BALTIMORE CITY ANNUALLY. HEAD START PROVIDES CHILDREN WITH HIGH QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION WITH SUPPORT SERVICES TO PARENTS. CAMP DISCOVERYCAMP DISCOVERY IS AN 8-WEEK SUMMER CAMP DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO COMBAT SUMMER LEARNING LOSS AND BRIDGE THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP FOR OUR HEAD START STUDENTS TRANSITIONING TO KINDERGARTEN. EACH SUMMER, CAMP DISCOVERY PROVIDES 130 CHILDREN WITH ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, KINDERGARTEN READINESS, SOCIAL EMOTIONAL CURRICULUM, SWIM DAYS, AND STEM-INFUSED ACTIVITIES. CAMP ST. VINCENTCAMP ST. VINCENT IS THE ONLY SUMMER CAMP DEDICATED TO SERVING CHILDREN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN THE BALTIMORE REGION AND SERVES OVER 175 CHILDREN EACH SUMMER. THE CAMP PROVIDES A POSITIVE CARING ENVIRONMENT THAT HELPS CHILDREN DEVELOP RESILIENCY SKILLS AND OVERCOME THE DAMAGING EFFECTS OF HOMELESSNESS AND ADDRESSES SUMMER LEARNING LOSS. CAMP ST. VINCENT ALSO OFFERS ART, MOVEMENT AND DANCE, NATURE EXPLORATION, WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTION, AND WEEKLY EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS.


HOMELESSNESS & SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICESMINIMIZING THE LENGTH OF TIME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES EXPERIENCE HOMELESSNESS IS KEY TO AVOIDING LONG-TERM, NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN. FOR THIS REASON, WE MAKE RE-HOUSING THE CENTRAL FOCUS OF ALL OF OUR SERVICES FOR PERSONS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED A CRISIS BUT ARE CAPABLE OF SUSTAINING HOUSING, WE EMPLOY BEST PRACTICES THAT INVOLVE SHORT-TERM INTERVENTIONS INCLUDING BRIEF SHELTER STAYS, RAPID RE-HOUSING, AND HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND SHELTER DIVERSION SERVICES. FOR THOSE WHO, DUE TO DISABILITIES OR OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, NEED MORE INTENSIVE AND LONGER-TERM SUPPORT TO REMAIN STABLY HOUSED, WE OFFER PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICES. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE OPERATES THE FOLLOWING HOMELESS SERVICES PROGRAMS:SARAH'S HOPE FAMILY SHELTERSARAH'S HOPE IS A 150-BED COMPREHENSIVE, FAMILY SHELTER THAT PROVIDES 24 HOUR SERVICES FOR FAMILIES EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN BALTIMORE CITY. SARAH'S HOPE OFFERS EMERGENCY SHELTER AND FAMILY-CENTERED SUPPORT SERVICES THAT PROVIDE IMMEDIATE STABILIZATION AND HELP FAMILIES QUICKLY REGAIN PERMANENT HOUSING, IMPROVE THEIR ECONOMIC HEALTH, AND ACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY. SERVICES AT SARAH'S HOPE INCLUDE INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT AND SERVICE LINKAGE, EMPLOYMENT SERVICES AND JOB PLACEMENT, HEALTH SCREENINGS, ON-SITE EARLY HEAD START, SCHOOL REFERRAL, SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY, AND CHILD AND YOUTH ACTIVITIES. SARAH'S HOPE SERVES OVER 130 FAMILIES EACH YEAR.HANNAH MORE FAMILY SHELTERHANNAH MORE IS AN 85-BED COMPREHENSIVE FAMILY SHELTER THAT PROVIDES 24 HOUR SERVICES FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES IN BALTIMORE COUNTY. HANNAH MORE OFFERS EMERGENCY SHELTER AND FAMILY-CENTERED SUPPORT SERVICES THAT PROVIDE IMMEDIATE STABILIZATION AND HELP FAMILIES QUICKLY REGAIN PERMANENT HOUSING, IMPROVE THEIR ECONOMIC HEALTH, AND ACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY. SERVICES AT SARAH'S HOPE INCLUDE INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT AND SERVICE LINKAGE, EMPLOYMENT SERVICES AND JOB PLACEMENT, HEALTH SCREENINGS, EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND SCHOOL REFERRAL, SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY, AND CHILD AND YOUTH ACTIVITIES. INTERIM HOUSE HELPS FAMILIES PREPARE FOR LIVING INDEPENDENTLY BY PROVIDING INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES, INCLUDING HELPING FAMILIES INCREASE INCOME AND RESOURCES THROUGH ACCESS TO MAINSTREAM BENEFITS AND EMPLOYMENT. GREENSPRING MEN'S SHELTER GREENSPRING MEN'S SHELTER IS A COMPREHENSIVE 24-HOUR SHELTER WITH 153 BEDS IN BALTIMORE CITY SERVING SINGLE MEN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. GREENSPRING PROVIDES INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT, HOUSING PLACEMENT, AND SERVICE LINKAGES TO HEALTH CARE, EMPLOYMENT, AND MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT.BEANS & BREADBEANS & BREAD IS A DAY RESOURCE CENTER WHERE PERSONS EXPERIENCING HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS CAN ACCESS LOW BARRIER SERVICES SUCH AS MEALS AND, THROUGH EFFECTIVE CLIENT ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES, ARE ASSISTED WITH SERVICES THAT ACHIEVE POSITIVE OUTCOMES IN FOUR CORE AREAS: HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT, SUBSTANCE ABUSE/MENTAL HEALTH, AND HEALTH CARE. BEANS AND BREAD SERVES MORE THAN 300 INDIVIDUALS EACH DAY.HOME CONNECTIONSHOME CONNECTIONS IS A PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM THAT SERVES SINGLE ADULTS AND FAMILIES WITH DISABILITIES WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED LONG TERM, CHRONIC HOMELESSNESS. HOME CONNECTIONS, FOUNDED IN 2006, WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PROGRAMS IN BALTIMORE TO ADOPT THE "HOUSING FIRST" BEST PRACTICE APPROACH, WITH IS BASED ON A PHILOSOPHY THAT AN INDIVIDUAL'S FIRST AND PRIMARY NEED IS TO OBTAIN STABLE HOUSING, AND OTHER ISSUES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR HOMELESSNESS CAN AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ONCE HOUSING IS OBTAINED. HOME CONNECTIONS SERVES138 HOUSEHOLDS AT A TIME.FRONT DOOR, BALTIMORE CITY FRONT DOOR IS A RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM THAT QUICKLY MOVES FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS INTO MARKET-RATE RENTAL UNITS. STAFF PROVIDES RENTAL ASSISTANCE, HOUSING COORDINATION SERVICES, FLEXIBLE CLIENT ASSISTANCE, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, AND INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT TO HELP HOUSEHOLDS OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN HOUSING. FRONT DOOR, BALTIMORE CITY PROVIDES SERVICES TO 120 HOUSEHOLDS ANNUALLY. FRONT DOOR, BALTIMORE COUNTY FRONT DOOR, BALTIMORE COUNTY IS A RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES RENTAL ASSISTANCE, HOUSING COORDINATION SERVICES, FLEXIBLE CLIENT ASSISTANCE, AND INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT TO HELP HOUSEHOLDS OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN HOUSING. FRONT DOOR, BALTIMORE COUNTY PROVIDES SERVICES TO 60 HOUSEHOLDS ANNUALLY.FAMILY PATHWAYS, BALTIMORE CITY FAMILY PATHWAYS IS A SHELTER DIVERSION AND HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM FOR FAMILIES EXPERIENCING OR AT-RISK OF HOMELESSNESS, SERVING 75 FAMILIES ANNUALLY. A BIG PART OF THE SOLUTION TO HUNGER IS INCREASING FOOD ACCESS, AND LAST YEAR WE PROVIDED MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION MEALS. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE OPERATES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF HUNGER FOR OUR LOW-INCOME CLIENTS: GOOD HARVEST COMMUNITY KITCHENGOOD HARVEST COMMUNITY KITCHEN IS OUR SOCIAL ENTERPRISE THAT EXPANDS ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD FOR CHILDREN, ADULTS, FAMILIES, AND SENIORS IN GROUP SETTINGS SUCH AS SHELTERS, PRE-SCHOOLS, AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, SUMMER CAMPS, ADULT DAY CARE CENTERS, GROUP HOMES AND SENIOR CENTERS. GOOD HARVEST PREPARES AND DELIVERS MORE THAN 5,000 NUTRITIOUS MEALS EACH DAY THROUGHOUT THE GREATER BALTIMORE REGION.PARISH CONFERENCESWE HAVE 39 PARISH-BASED CONFERENCES THAT PROVIDE FOOD ASSISTANCE AND OPERATE FOOD PANTRIES, DISTRIBUTING MORE THAN $500,000 IN GROCERIES EACH YEAR THROUGHOUT THE GREATER BALTIMORE REGION.


WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICESMANY PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE ENTRENCHED IN POVERTY BECAUSE THEY HAVE ENDURED LONG-TERM UNEMPLOYMENT. THIS IS OFTEN CAUSED BY BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT THAT INCLUDE A LACK OF WORK SKILLS, LOW EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT, PRIOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE, INCARCERATION, A HISTORY OF HEALTH PROBLEMS, OR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DISABILITIES. EMPLOYMENT IS ESSENTIAL TO ACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY. HAVING A JOB STRENGTHENS FAMILIES, PROVIDES STABILITY, AND ALLOWS PERMANENT HOUSING TO BE OBTAINED AND SUSTAINED. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE OPERATES THE FOLLOWING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS:CAREER CONNECTIONSCAREER CONNECTIONS PROVIDES WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN OUR FRONT DOOR, FAMILY PATHWAYS, AND PROMISE HOUSING PROGRAMS. CAREER CONNECTIONS IMPLEMENTS THE EMPLOYMENT NAVIGATOR MODEL, A BEST PRACTICE MODEL THAT FOCUSES ON LONG-TERM EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES BY PRIORITIZING THE REDUCTION AND REMOVAL OF BARRIERS AND INCREASING EMPLOYABILITY THROUGH FORMAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND ASSISTING CLIENTS IN OBTAINING INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIALS.
