AGGREGATE PRODUCTION OPERATIONS: TESPA CONTINUES IN PARTNERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP WITH ORGANIZATIONS DEDICATED TO PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY OF THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY. IN 2022, TESPA SENT ITS FIRST AMENDED NOTICE OF INTENT (NOI)TO BRING A LEGAL ACTION AGAINST FAR SOUTH MINING LLC (FSM) FOR A PROPOSED ROCK QUARRY AND ROCK CRUSHING OPERATION IN HAYS COUNTY. TESPA IS REQUESTING FSM TO ABANDON ITS PLANS FOR A ROCK QUARRY ON THE NEEDMORE RANCH BETWEEN WIMBERLEY AND SAN MARCOS. THE FSM OPERATION PRESENTS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SCENARIO BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION, RIGHT ON TOP OF THE RECHARGE ZONE OF THE EDWARDS AQUIFER. ON NOVEMBER 6, 2022, TESPA HELD AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AND FUNDRAISER TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY IN ITS WORK TO ENSURE BEST PRACTICES AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH ROCK QUARRIES AND CRUSHING OPERATIONS. CARBON SEQUESTRATION: IN THE HILL COUNTRY THERE IS A GREAT NEED FOR FUNDING TO SUPPORT INNOVATIVE CONSERVATION AND REGENERATIVE LAND STEWARDSHIP ACTIVITIES. CARBON SEQUESTRATION BRINGS A NEW SOURCE OF FUNDING TO THE REGION. TESPA EXPLORED THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LOCAL MARKET FOR SEQUESTERING CARBON DIOXIDE THROUGH BEST LAND MANAGEMENT PRACTICES RIGHT HERE IN THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY.
