THE FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO ERADICATING CHILD LABOR AND CHILD EXPLOITATION BY EDUCATING AND MOBILIZING THE PUBLIC, ENGAGING THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO PRIORITIZE CHILDREN IN THEIR BUSINESS MODELS, BUILDING CAPACITY OF PARTNERS ON THE GROUND AND ADVOCATING FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL POLICIES.2014 NOBEL PEACE LAUREATE KAILASH SATYARTHI'S 4 DECADES OF EXPERIENCE AND PROVEN TRACK RECORD RESCUING AND REHABILITATING CHILD LABORERS TO PRIORITIZING CHILDREN IN NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL POLICY TO BUILDING PUBLIC AND CORPORATE AWARENESS-UNIQUELY POSITIONS HIM TO EXPAND AND BUILD UPON HIS PREVIOUS WORK GLOBALLY THROUGH THE FOUNDATION.WE BELIEVE THAT ALL CHILDREN MUST LIVE FREELY WITH DIGNITY AND HAVE THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO BE SAFE, HEALTHY AND EDUCATED IN ORDER TO REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL. IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS A REALITY, THE FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON POLICY, PROGRAMS AND PEOPLE.CENTRAL TO OUR WORK IS PARTNERSHIP, BUILDING TRUST AND COLLABORATION BETWEEN AND AMONG KEY STAKEHOLDERS. THE FOUNDATION BRINGS TOGETHER GOVERNMENTS, THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND CIVIL SOCIETY (INCLUDING YOUTH) TO CREATE A SOLID ALLIANCE OF INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS, BUSINESSES AND NATIONS, STANDING TOGETHER UNTIL NO CHILD ANYWHERE IS DEPRIVED OF THEIR FREEDOM. IN 2021, KSCF US BROUGHT TOGETHER THESE CONSTITUENCIES THROUGH THE FAIR SHARE TO END CHILD LABOR CAMPAIGN. LAUNCHED BY NOBEL LAUREATES, HEADS OF MULTI-LATERAL INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS, PROGRESSIVE BUSINESS CHAMPIONS, FAITH LEADERS AND CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS ALONGSIDE YOUTH AND STUDENT ACTIVISTS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SURVIVORS OF CHILD LABOR THEMSELVES, THE CAMPAIGN CALLED FOR A FAIR SHARE OF RESOURCES, POLICIES AND SOCIAL PROTECTION FOR THE WORLD'S MOST MARGINALIZED CHILDREN.IN JUNE 2021, THE INTERNATIONAL LABOR ORGANIZATION RELEASED NEW GLOBAL ESTIMATES WHICH REVEALED THAT PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC, CHILD LABOR HAD INCREASED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DECADES FROM 152 MILLION TO 160 MILLION, WITH AFRICA HAVING MORE CHILD LABORERS THAN THE REST OF THE WORLD COMBINED. THE ILO FURTHER ANTICIPATED THAT AN ADDITIONAL 8 MILLION CHILDREN WOULD BECOME CHILD LABORERS BY THE END OF 2022 AND THAT IF AUSTERITY MEASURES WERE TAKEN BY GOVERNMENTS THE NUMBER OF CHILD LABORERS WOULD GROW BY AN ADDITIONAL 46 MILLION IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD.OVER THE SUMMER AND THROUGHOUT THE FALL, THE FOUNDATION RAISED AWARENESS AROUND THE ALARMING INCREASE IN CHILD LABOR.IN SEPTEMBER, THE FOUNDATION'S LAUREATES AND LEADERS FOR CHILDREN INITIATIVE HOSTED AN EVENT ALONGSIDE THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, CO-SPONSORED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF SWEDEN AND THE NORWEGIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, WHICH BROUGHT TOGETHER THE YOUTH ACTIVISTS AND FORMER CHILD LABORERS TO SPEAK WITH POLICYMAKERS ON THE IMPORTANCE AND NEED OF SOCIAL PROTECTION IN FIGHTING CHILD LABOR. A BRIEFING NOTE ENTITLED, "A FAIR SHARE TO END CHILD LABOR: UNIVERSAL SOCIAL PROTECTION FOR CHILDREN IN LOW-INCOME COUNTRIES" WAS RELEASED AT THE EVENT AND SHARED WITH THE PUBLIC, POLICY-MAKERS AND DECISION-MAKERS IN THE US AND AROUND THE WORLD. THE FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON ENGAGING CHILDREN AND YOUTH TO BECOME GLOBAL CITIZENS THAT HAVE A SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RIGHT OF ALL CHILDREN TO BE FREE, SAFE, HEALTHY, AND EDUCATED. IN 2021, THE 100 MILLION CAMPAIGN YOUTH LEADERS AMPLIFIED THE CALLS FOR A FAIR SHARE AND ORGANIZED ACTIONS ON THE GROUND IN 12 AFRICAN COUNTRIES. THE US 100 MILLION CAMPAIGN ENGAGED YOUNG PEOPLE ONLINE BY DEVELOPING SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLKITS ON RAISING AWARENESS ON CHILD LABOR.THE 100 MILLION CAMPAIGN WORKED WITH FORMER CHILD LABORERS TO DEVELOP A TEACHER'S RESOURCE GUIDE AND LESSON PLAN ON CHILD LABOR. THE LESSON PLAN WAS PILOTED BY A NUMBER OF SCHOOLS IN THE US AND SWITZERLAND AND VIRTUALLY CONNECTED STUDENTS WITH FORMER CHILD LABORERS IN INDIA TO ENGAGE IN A DIALOGUE.IN ADDITION TO THE POLICY AND MOBILIZATION WORK ALREADY MENTIONED, KSCF US FUNDED PROGRAMS ON THE GROUND IN INDIA FOCUSED ON THE RESCUE AND REHABILITATION OF CHILD LABORERS AND COLLABORATED ON THE REPLICATION AND SCALING OF THE CHILD FRIENDLY VILLAGE MODEL, WHICH BRINGS VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE LENS OF CHILDREN'S RIGHTS TO VILLAGES IN INDIA.
