CANOPY LIFE INTERNATIONAL'S (THE ORGANIZATION") PURPOSE IS TO OPEN SCHOOLS ABROAD WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON INNOVATION AND LEADERSHIP. THE MISSION IS TO ADOPT A CURRICULUM THAT FOCUSES ON BUILDING A COUNTRY'S NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS. WE DO THIS THROUGH QUALITY EDUCATION, INTENTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND ENVIRONMENTS THAT SPARK THE IMAGINATION. SPECIFICALLY, WE ARE INTEGRATING DESIGN THINKING INTO THE NATIONAL KENYAN CURRICULUM, ADJUSTING THE TEACHING MODEL TO PROMOTE CRITICAL THINKING AMONGST THE STUDENTS, AND EXPOSING THEM TO THE ARTS AND OTHER WORLDVIEW EXPERIENCES OTHERWISE UNREACHABLE TO STUDENTS OF THEIR ECONOMIC POSITION. THE ORGANIZATION IS ALSO A CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION, STANDING FIRMLY ON THE VALUES OF FAITH, FAMILY AND JESUS CHRIST TO GUIDE STUDENTS INTO STRONG CHARACTER AND PURPOSE.

THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES GRANTS TO CANOPY LIFE INTERNATIONAL KENYA TO OPERATE CANOPY LIFE ACADEMY. DURING 2021, CANOPY LIFE INTERNATIONAL KENYA'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING:A. ADDED 12 STUDENTS; AS SOME STUDENTS TRANSITIONED TO HIGH SCHOOL, CAPACITY WAS MADE ON CAMPUS FOR AN ADDITIONAL CLASS OF FOURTH GRADERS TO JOIN CANOPY LIFE ACADEMY CAMPUS.B. COMPLETED 4 TERMS IN 1 ANNUAL YEAR: AS OPPOSED TO A TYPICAL 3 TERM SCHOOL YEAR, THE GOVERNMENT OF KENYA ENCOURAGED A 4-TERM YEAR TO CATCH UP FROM THE MISSED SCHOOLING DURING 2020. C. CLASS 8 STUDENTS SCORED IN THE TOP 25% OF THE NATION ON THEIR NATIONAL KCPE EXAM AND WERE ADMITTED TO A HIGH PERFORMING HIGH SCHOOL: DAMACREST HIGH SCHOOL WHERE THEY EXHIBITED STRONG LEADERSHIP CAPACITY AMONG THEIR PEERS. ONE STUDENT REMAINS THE TOP PERFORMING STUDENT IN HER INCOMING CLASS AND ANOTHER HAS BEEN VOTED AS PRAYER COORDINATOR FOR THE CLASS. D. CODING CLASS - OUR INNOVATION PROGRAM INITIATED CODING LESSONS WITH CLASS 4 AND 5 STUDENTS. E. VOLUNTEER TEAMS RESUMED TRAVEL FROM THE US TO KENYA ENGAGING IN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WITH STAFF AND CREATIVE PROJECTS AND CULTURAL EXCHANGES WITH STUDENTS. F. CAMPUS PROJECTS IN 2021: INTERNET CAPACITY WAS UPGRADED TO FIBER OPTIC CABLE, CLASSROOM BUILDINGS AND RESIDENTIAL OFFICES WERE TILED, PARTITIONS WERE CREATED IN THE OPERATIONS OFFICE TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY, SECURITY LIGHTING INSTALLED ON CAMPUS AS WELL AS INTERIOR PHONE SYSTEMS AND PHASE 1 OF REPAIR TO THE ACCESS ROAD TO CAMPUS. G. HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS: AS THE 2020 PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS LIFTED, STAFF WERE ABLE TO REGULARLY ACCESS STUDENTS IN HIGH SCHOOL ON WEEKENDS, DEVELOPING THE INNOVATION, COUNSELING AND SPIRITUAL PROGRAMS FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS. STAFF ALSO INITIATED OUR FIRST HIGH SCHOOL HOLIDAY CAMP WHICH INVOLVED A TWO WEEK SESSION OF INNOVATION AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT TRAINING DURING THE LONG SCHOOL BREAK.
