SEE SCHEDULE OFOUNDED IN 1882, HASTINGS COLLEGE IS A FOUR-YEAR, PRIVATE, LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE IN HASTINGS, NEBRASKA. THE COLLEGE SITS ON 120 ACRES WITH MORE THAN 40 ACADEMIC, RESIDENTIAL, AND ATHLETIC BUILDINGS; ENROLLS NEARLY 1,000 STUDENTS FROM 39 STATES AND 20 FOREIGN COUNTRIES; AND IS FULLY ACCREDITED BY THE HIGHER LEARNING COMMISSION. HASTINGS COLLEGE STRIVES TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY LIBERAL ARTS EDUCATION FOR ITS STUDENTS WHILE SERVING AS AN IMPORTANT EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL CENTER FOR THE HASTINGS COMMUNITY AND SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. ITS MISSION IS AS FOLLOWS: "DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM OUR GREAT PLAINS HOME, OUR PRESBYTERIAN HERITAGE, AND OUR LIBERAL ARTS HISTORY, HASTINGS COLLEGE WILL GRADUATE CREATIVE, CURIOUS, AND CARING STUDENTS EQUIPPED THROUGH EXCEPTIONAL TEACHING AND DELIBERATE MENTORING TO THRIVE AS CITIZENS OF THEIR LOCAL AND GLOBAL COMMUNITIES."HASTINGS COLLEGE OFFERS MORE THAN 40 ACADEMIC MAJORS AND 14 PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS AND BESTOWS BACHELOR OF ARTS, BACHELOR OF MUSIC, AND MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHING DEGREES. THE TOP PRIMARY MAJORS OF FULL-TIME STUDENTS, THIS YEAR, ARE BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, EXERCISE SCIENCE, PSYCHOLOGY, ELEMENTARY EDUCATION, AND BIOLOGY.WITH A STUDENT-TO-FACULTY RATIO OF 13-TO-1, HASTINGS COLLEGE OFFERS ITS STUDENTS PERSONALIZED CONTACT WITH DEDICATED PROFESSORS FROM SOME OF THE NATION'S TOP GRADUATE PROGRAMS, INCLUDING NOTRE DAME, YALE, AND CORNELL. MORE THAN 86 PERCENT OF FULL-TIME FACULTY HAVE A DOCTORATE OR OTHER TERMINAL DEGREE.IN 2019, THE COLLEGE TRANSITIONED TO A MODIFIED BLOCK SCHEDULE TO PROVIDE MORE INTENSIVE LEARNING INTERACTIONS BETWEEN STUDENTS AND FACULTY. EACH SEMESTER, STUDENTS TAKE TWO SEVEN-WEEK BLOCKS AND ONE TWO-WEEK BLOCK. IN A TWO-WEEK BLOCK, STUDENTS ENROLL IN ONE COURSE; IN A SEVEN-WEEK BLOCK, THEY ENROLL IN TWO COURSES. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE COMPLETION OF 120 HOURS OF CREDITS.IN 2020, HASTINGS COLLEGE AND BRYAN COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES IN LINCOLN, NEB., ANNOUNCED A UNIQUE LEADERSHIP ARRANGEMENT WHEREBY DR. RICH LLOYD JOINED HASTINGS COLLEGE AS EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT WHILE REMAINING PRESIDENT OF BRYAN COLLEGE, WHERE HE HAS SERVED SINCE 2016. HASTINGS COLLEGE'S SHARED PRESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT COINCIDED WITH PLANS FOR A HEALTH CARE EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP COMMENCING IN FALL 2022 WITH A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING PROGRAM IN HASTINGS, A SECOND INSTRUCTIONAL SITE FOR BRYAN COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES' CURRENT BSN PROGRAM IN LINCOLN. STUDENTS WILL LIVE IN HASTINGS COLLEGE RESIDENCE HALLS AND TAKE SCIENCE AND GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES ON CAMPUS. IN THE SECOND THROUGH FOURTH YEARS, THEY WILL COMPLETE NURSING COURSES AND CLINICALS WITH BRYAN FACULTY IN EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES AT A NEW MARY LANNING HEALTHCARE MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING. IN 2021, A FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENT TASK FORCE DEVELOPED HASTINGS COLLEGE'S FIRST-EVER DIVERSITY STRATEGIC PLAN FOCUSED ON CREATING A MORE DIVERSE, EQUITABLE, AND INCLUSIVE CAMPUS COMMUNITY. IN 2021, HASTINGS COLLEGE, THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT OMAHA, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA MEDICAL CENTER ANNOUNCED AN ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP THAT PROVIDES ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AT UNO AND UNMC FOR HASTINGS STUDENTS WHO CAN REGISTER FOR REMOTE AND ONLINE UPPER DIVISION COURSES AT UNO AND SOME AREAS OF UNMC WHILE CONTINUING THEIR PROGRAMS AT HASTINGS.HASTINGS COLLEGE IS DEEPLY ENTRENCHED IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND HIGHLY REGARDED FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMS, MANY OF WHICH ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THESE INCLUDE GUEST LECTURES AND SYMPOSIA, CONCERTS AND RECITALS, ART EXHIBITS, AND THEATER PRODUCTIONS. STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF ARE ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY AS CIVIC LEADERS AND VOLUNTEERS. IN RECOGNITION OF STUDENTS' COMMUNITY SERVICE, HASTINGS COLLEGE IN 2019 BEGAN OFFERING A SERVICE LEARNING CERTIFICATE FOR STUDENTS WISHING TO ALIGN THEIR SERVICE WORK WITH ACADEMIC REFLECTION AND INTELLECTUAL INQUIRY.
