THE ORGANIZATION RAISES AWARENESS AND FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE MANY LIFE-SAVING ACTIVITIES OF BIOBRIDGE GLOBAL AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES.

THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED SUPPORT TO THE PROGRAMS OF THE SOUTH TEXAS BLOOD & TISSUE CENTER, INCLUDING CORD BLOOD, THE CENTER FOR APHERESIS AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES AND THE TISSUE DEPARTMENT. FUNDING FROM FOUNDATION SUPPORT HELPED THE CENTER FOR APHERESIS AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES FACILITATE 128 STEM CELL AND MARROW DONATIONS TO PATIENTS IN NEED HERE AND ABROAD. WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF FOUNDATION DONORS, THE CORD BLOOD PROGRAM COLLECTED 1,298 CORD BLOOD UNITS, 47 OF WHICH WERE BANKED AND 417 UNITS THAT WERE MADE AVAILABLE FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT. 19 UNITS WERE SHIPPED FOR TRANSPLANT FOR PATIENTS RANGING FROM ONE YEAR TO 67 YEARS OLD. THE TEXAS CORD BLOOD BANK CURRENTLY OFFERS BIRTH TISSUE DONATION (PLACENTAS & CORDS). PLACENTAS & UMBILICAL CORD TISSUE ARE PROVIDED TO OUR PROCESSING PARTNERS TO BE USED AS GRAFTS FOR TREATMENT OF INJURIES SUCH AS BURNS AND DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS. IN 2021, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED SUPPORT TO THE SOUTH TEXAS BLOOD & TISSUE CENTER BY SECURING FUNDING TO OPEN TWO MUCH-NEEDED NEW DONOR CENTERS IN BOERNE AND BULVERDE, INCREASING ACCESSIBILITY FOR OUR DONORS IN THESE AREAS. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FOUNDATION ASSISTED IN DELIVERING LIFE-SAVING BLOOD AND BLOOD COMPONENTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, INCLUDING COVID-19 CONVALESCENT PLASMA. DONOR GIFTS TO THE FOUNDATION ALSO ASSISTED IN DONOR RECRUITMENT ACTIVITIES AND PROCUREMENT OF DONOR INCENTIVE IN THE FORM OF GIFT CARDS FOR GAS, GROCERIES, RESTAURANT MEALS, T-SHIRTS, ETC.
