AS A LAY FRANCISCAN MISSION PROGRAM FRANCISCAN MISSION SERVICE HELPS CATHOLICS PREPARE TO SERVE ON TWO-YEAR INTERNATIONAL ONE-YEAR DOMESTIC AND 1-2 WEEK SHORT-TERM MISSION OPPORTUNITIES. MISSIONERS LIVE A SIMPLE LIFE IN SOLIDARITY WITH THEIR PARTNERS; THE POOR AND OPPRESSED AROUND THE WORLD

THE LAY MISSIONER PROGRAM PROVIDES CATHOLIC LAY WOMEN AND MEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO YEARS WITH POOR AND OPPRESSED COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD. WE TRAIN COMMISSION AND SUPPORT MISSIONERS IN THE FRANCISCAN CHARISM TO SERVE OTHERS IN A WAY THAT IS RESPECTFUL AND HONORING OF CULTURAL RELIGIOUS AND PERSONAL DIFFERENCES. IN 2020-2021 WE HAD 9 MISSIONERS IN BOLIVIA JAMAICA AND THE BORDER SERVING IN A VARIETY OF CAPACITIES INCLUDING EDUCATION PRISON MINISTRY MINISTRY WITH SEXUALLY ABUSED CHILDREN MINISTRY WITH ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS AND MINISTRY WITH PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.


DC SERVICE CORPS PROVIDES YOUNG ADULTS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN DIRECT SERVICE WITH MARGINALIZED POPULATIONS IN WASHINGTON DC OR IN SERVICE TO FRANCISCAN MISSION SERVICE'S FMS OVERALL MISSION THROUGH WORK AT THE FMS HEADQUARTERS. THE PROGRAM EMPHASIZES SERVICE SIMPLE LIVING COMMUNITY AND SPIRITUALITY IN THE FRANCISCAN CHARISM. IN 2020-2021 TWO VOLUNTEERS SERVED AT A SITE PARTNER LOCATION AND THREE VOLUNTEERS SERVED IN THE FMS OFFICE.
