THE MINNESOTA AFL-CIO ADVOCATED FOR NUMEROUS ISSUES IN THE BIENNIAL LEGISLATIVE SESSION WITH SOME SUCCESSFUL EFFORTS AND SOME WITH NO SUCCESS. // MINNESOTA AFL-CIO HOSTS A LEGISLATIVE AND POLITICAL CONFERENCE IN WHICH ATTENDEES LEARN ABOUT LEGISLATIVE ISSUES THAT COULD ARISE IN THE UPCOMING LEGISLATIVE SESSION AND LEARN ABOUT SKILLS TO USE FOR SUCCESSFUL LEGISLATION. // THE POLITICAL PLAN IS APPROVED IN MAR/APR BY THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AND GENERAL BOARD. CONSIDERABLE EFFORT IS PUT INTO EDUCATING AND MOBILIZING MEMBERS OF AFFILIATED UNIONS TO SUPPORT ENDORSED CANDIDATES DURING THE ELECTION PROCESS. // THE ORGANIZING DIRECTOR WORKS TO EXPAND AFFILIATES CAPACITY TO WAGE STRATEGIC ORGANIZING CAMPAIGNS, COORDINATE SUPPORT FOR AFFILIATE ORGANIZING, AND WORK ON INITIATIVES TO GROW UNION EMPLOYERS. ORGANIZING PERSONNEL HAS SUPPORTED OVER 40 AFFILIATES WITH CONSULATION, DIRECT SUPPORT, AND/OR TRAINING TO SUPPORT ORGANIZING. // MINNESOTA AFL-CIO COORDINATES THE PLANNING AND ACTIVITIES OF AFFILIATES AT THE MINNESOTA AFL-CIO LABOR PAVILION AT THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR. // IN ADDITION TO THE ONGOING WORK OF THE COMMUNICATIONS STAFF - DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES HAVE BEEN EXPANDED TO IMPROVE OUR REACH, ALONG WITH VIDEO STREAMING CAPABILITIES FOR LABOR EVENTS AND ACTIONS.
