GRANT GIVEN TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY, NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, FEINBERG SCHOOL OF MEDICINE FOR THE PROJECT "DETERMINING THE RATIONALE FOR ANTISENSE OLIGONUCLEOTIDE THERAPY OF AHC": TO DETERMINE IF MOLECULAR MECHANISMS UNDERLYING ATP1A3-ASSOCIATED NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS ARE AMENABLE TO ANTISENSE OLIGONUCLEOTIDE THERAPEUTIC STRATEGIES. TO DEMONSTRATE THE ELECTROPHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF ANTISENSE-OLIGONUCLEOTIDE (ASO) DIRECTED KNOCK DOWN OF ATP1A3 IN HUMAN NEURONS
GRANT TO THE THE JACKSON LABORATORY: FROM THE IVF, APPROXIMATELY 10-12 HETEROZYGOUS AND 10-12 WILD TYPE LITTERMATES, PER SEX, WILL BE WEIGHED WEEKLY FROM 3-4 WEEKS OF AGE THROUGH 18 WEEKS OF AGE. 2) BEGINNING AT 4 WEEKS, 8 WEEKS AND 12 WEEKS OF AGE, ANIMALS WILL UNDERGO A BATTERY OF GENERAL ACTIVITY AND NEUROBEHAVIORAL TESTS AS NOTED BELOW.
