CYSO'S MISSION IS TO INSPIRE AND CULTIVATE PERSONAL EXCELLENCE THROUGH MUSIC.

DURING THE 2021 FISCAL YEAR, CYSO SERVED NEARLY 610 STUDENTS AGES 6-18 IN ON-SITE ENSEMBLES INCLUDING FOUR FULL ORCHESTRAS, THREE STRING ORCHESTRA, MULTIPLE STEEL ORCHESTRAS, AND ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDING CHAMBER MUSIC, MASTERCLASSES, AND MUSIC COMPOSITION. CYSO MUSICIANS LEARN FROM CHICAGO'S MOST RESPECTED PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS, PERFORM IN THE WORLD'S GREAT CONCERT HALLS, AND GAIN THE SELF-CONFIDENCE AND DISCIPLINE NECESSARY FOR SUCCESSFUL FUTURE.


CYSO COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS SUPPORTED INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC ACCESS AND TRAINING FOR APPROXIMATELY 8,500 YOUNG PEOPLE DURING THE 2021 FISCAL YEAR. CYSO HAS TWO DIRECT INSTRUCTION TUITION FREE AND AUDITION FREE PROGRAMS IN CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS SERVING 120 TOTAL STUDENTS. IN ADDITION, CYSO WORKS WITH STUDENTS ACROSS MANY LOWER INCOME CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOODS THROUGH OUR FREE COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION CONCERTS, AND PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS, THE PEOPLE'S MUSIC SCHOOL, AND THE CHICAGO MUSICAL PATHWAYS INITIATIVE.
