FOUNDED IN CHICAGO BY THE SISTERS OF MERCY IN 1846, SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY IS A DISTINGUISHED, FOUR-YEAR +, PRIVATE CATHOLIC INSTITUTION THAT EDUCATES FOR COMPETENCE, CHARACTER AND CAREER SUCCESS. CHICAGO'S FIRST CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY AND THE FIRST MERCY INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING IN THE WORLD, SAINT XAVIER IS STUDENT-CENTERED AND MISSION DRIVEN, INSPIRING ITS STUDENT COMMUNITY OF DOERS TO BE MORALLY COURAGEOUS LEADERS BY CONNECTING THEM TO ACTIVE AND ENGAGED LEARNING AND SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES. IN 2021, SXU WAS AWARDED TWO ADDITIONAL GRANTS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.
