THE HOMELAND SECURITY AND DEFENSE BUSINESS COUNCIL IS A FORUM THAT PROMOTES AND ENHANCES COMMUNICATION BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND PRIVATE INDUSTRIES. THE COUNCIL PRESENTS THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, THE US DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND FEDERAL AGENCIES. AS A MEMBERSHIP-BASED ORGANIZATION, THE COUNCIL DELIVERS AND PROMOTES ANALYSIS OF KEY SUBJECT ISSUES BY EXPERTS AND COORDINATES EVENTS THAT PROMOTE NETWORKING.

THE COUNCIL HOSTS DISCUSSIONS AND MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THAT BRING SENIOR LEVEL EXECUTIVES AND SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS FROM MEMBER COMPANIES TOGETHER TO HEAR FROM AND ENGAGE WITH THEIR COUNTERPART SENIOR GOVERNMENT AGENCY AND CONGRESSIONAL OFFICIALS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OR HAVE SIGNIFICANT EXPERTISE ON THE POLICY AND PROCESS ISSUES IN THE HOMELAND SECURITY ENTERPRISE. PROGRAMS HAVE AT LEAST ONE GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL IN CONVERSATION WITH OR BRIEFING COUNCIL MEMBER REPRESENTATIVES ON ISSUES OF MUTUAL CONCERN. THESE EVENTS ARE OPEN ONLY TO CURRENT AND SOMETIMES PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS AND ARE CLOSED TO THE PRESS. INVITED GUESTS INCLUDE OFFICIALS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE/FBI, THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS, THE STATE DEPARTMENT, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY AS WELL AS OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE ATLANTIC COUNCIL.
