TO PROVIDE FUNDING AND SUPPORT FOR BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED INDIVIDUALS IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST TO BROADEN AND ENHANCE THEIR EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
A BRAILLE PROGRAM CHANGED THE LIBRARY SYSTEM AT THE SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND FROM ENGLISH TO THE UEB SYSTEM. THIS TECHNOLOGY ENHANCES THE STUDENTS ABILITY TO LEARN. WE MAKE BLINDNESS TIPS AVAILABLE TO ALL WITHIN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY, RECREATION EQUIPMENT AND ACTIVITIES ARE PROVIDED TO THE STUDENTS. PROVIDED PIANO LESSONS, HOLIDAY PACKAGES AND HELD ASSEMBLIES FOR STUDENTS. PROVIDED REPAIR & MAINTENANCE ON RECREATION EQUIPMENT. FUNDING ONLINE INFORMATION IS ESSENTIAL SINCE IT OPENS A WORLD FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED GRADUATING SENIORS. FUNDING FOR ACCESSIBLE TECHNOLOGY INCREASES STUDENTS' ABILITIES TO CONTINUE ONTO HIGHER EDUCATION. OUR BRAILLE BOOK PROGRAM OPENS THE WORLD OF INFORMATION TO ALL OUR STUDENTS AROUND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. PROVIDED BRAILLE EDUCATIONAL AND LEARNING BOOKS TO FAMILY OF STUDENTS A BABY TO 3 YEAR OLD PROGRAM CALLED B-3 TO HELP IDENTIFY BABIES WITH VISION PROBLEMS. THE PROGRAM GETS FAMILIES IN CONTACT WITH AGENCIES AND PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP THEIR CHILD. WE PROVIDE QUILTS TO MANY OF THESE BABIES. THE MOBILE LOW VISION CLINIC TRAVELING AROUND THE STATE OF WASHINGTON TESTING CHILDREN FOR ABNORMALITIES IN THEIR VISION WAS PUT ON HOLD DUE TO COVID BUT WILL CONTINUE NEXT YEAR. PROVIDED ORTHODONTICS GRANTS TO HELP STUDENTS WITH THEIR TEETH.
