FOUNDED IN 1988, AMERICAN CABARET THEATRE, INC. DBA THE CABARET, IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO ELEVATING AND PROMOTING THE CABARET ART FORM BY ENTERTAINING, EDUCATING, AND ENGAGING AUDIENCES AND ARTISTS THROUGH WORLD-CLASS PERFORMANCE. AS THE CABARET ATTRACTS ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE, AUDIENCES TOO TRAVEL FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY TO SEE THESE WORLD- CLASS ARTISTS IN THE VENUE'S AWARD-WINNING UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL SETTING.

ARTISTIC PROGRAMMING REOPENING THE CABARET - WHILE 2021 BEGAN WITH MANY UNKNOWNS, SWIFT VACCINATION ROLL-OUT AND REDUCED COVID-19 CASES IN THE SPRING ALLOWED THE CABARET TO BRING BACK LIVE AUDIENCES IN THE SUMMER. THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR WAS DEDICATED TO COMPREHENSIVE RE-OPENING PLANNING AND CONTINUING VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING. THE CABARET WAS AWARDED A 110,000 ARTS AND CULTURE RESTART AND RESILIENCY FROM INDY ARTS COUNCIL TO SUPPORT REOPENING. OVERALL, IN 2021, THE CABARET PRESENTED 32 PERFORMANCES THAT SERVED 4,904 IN PERSON AUDIENCES (RESTRICTED TO 75% CAPACITY DUE TO THE PANDEMIC), VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING THAT SERVED 308,470 UNIQUE AUDIENCES, IN ADDITION TO 65 EVENTS OR ACTIVITIES AS PART OF ITS EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMMING THAT SERVED A TOTAL AUDIENCE OF 322,742. THE ALLEY/"THE ALLEY SESSIONS"- A ONCE RUN-DOWN HISTORIC ALLEY WAS TRANSFORMED INTO A VIBRANT ARTS CORRIDOR AND COMMUNITY GATHERING SPACE WHICH OPENED IN JULY WHICH OPENED TO THE PUBLIC ON JULY 9, 2021 WITH A FREE, SIX CONCERT SERIES (ARTISTS WERE PAID MARKET RATE) SERVING 615 AT 88% CAPACITY. AUDIENCES WERE ABLE TO ORDER A VARIETY OF FOOD AND BEVERAGES FOR AN OUTDOOR, CASUAL EXPERIENCE. PSYWRN SIMONE, WHO PERFORMED SEPT. 3, WAS LISTED BY INDYSTAR AS ONE OF THE "10 MOST EXCITING CONCERTS AND MORE" COMING TO INDY DURING THE SUMMER. 2021 ARTISTIC SEASON - THE CABARET'S SIGNATURE INDOOR SEASON RETURNED IN AUGUST 2021. THE CABARET'S FLAGSHIP INDOOR SEASON INCLUDED FOUR SERIES: GLICK PHILANTHROPIES BROADWAY AT THE CABARET, JAZZ AT THE CABARET, THE CHRISTEL DEHAAN INTERNATIONAL SERIES, AND THE NEXT GENERATION SERIES. THE SEASON INCLUDED 26 PERFORMANCES AND SERVED AN AUDIENCE OF 4,091. SHOWS AVERAGED 85% CAPACITY. VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING - THE CABARET REACHES AN ASTONISHINGLY DIVERSE AUDIENCE THROUGH ITS CAREFULLY CURATED PERFORMANCE OFFERINGS ON ITS YOUTUBE CHANNEL. THE CHANNEL PROVIDES?FREE ACCESS TO MORE THAN 600 HIGH-QUALITY, ARCHIVAL PERFORMANCE AND CLASS VIDEOS. NEW VIDEOS ARE ADDED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. A KEY VIRTUAL OFFERING DURING THE PANDEMIC, THE CHANNEL HAS 7.95K SUBSCRIBERS, RECEIVED 308,470 UNIQUE VIEWERS (488,387 TOTAL VIEWS), IN 2021 AND HAS RECEIVED MORE THAN 2 MILLION VIEWS IN TWO YEARS FROM VIEWERS IN 68 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. SERVING AS AN ARTIST AND COMMUNITY HUB, THE CABARET OFFERS ITS VENUE, STAGE, AND SERVICES TO ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, NONPROFITS AND INDEPENDENT ARTISTS TO TAKE ADVANCE OF THE HIGH-QUALITY, INTIMATE PERFORMANCE SPACE AND THE CABARET STAFF'S EXPERTISE IN BUSINESS AND PERFORMANCE. INDEPENDENT ARTISTS AND SMALL ARTS ORGANIZATIONS USE THE CABARET'S SPACE AT NO CHARGE FOR REHEARSALS, PERFORMANCES, RECORDINGS, AND PHOTO SHOOTS, EVENTS, ETC.


THE CABARET PROVIDES BURGEONING CABARET ARTISTS-FROM STUDENTS TO PROFESSIONALS-WITH A CONTINUUM OF EDUCATIONAL AND OUTREACH PROGRAMMING TO HONE THEIR PERFORMANCE/CAREER SKILLS AND PERFORM LIVE ON STAGE. PROGRAMS INCLUDE MASTERCLASSES AND CAREER WORKSHOPS WITH NATIONAL ARTISTS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS; PRE-SHOW PERFORMANCE SPOTLIGHTS; STUDENT TICKETS; AND PAID ARTS MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIPS. ALL PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE. 384 STUDENTS WERE DIRECTLY SERVED BY THE CABARET'S EDUCATIONAL/ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING AND 3042 STUDENTS/LIFELONG LEARNERS WORLDWIDE VIEWED THE 273 EDUCATION PROGRAM PLAYLISTS ON THE CABARET'S YOUTUBE PAGE.
